- Confusion/disorganization with the times and locations of things (like main programming and panels). Some of it was that the wrong info was printed in the booklet (can be more or less solved with more proofreading). But the rest were events getting pushed back (like the concert), therefore making everything else later than scheduled. I know that things do come up and people need to be flexible, but it just seemed like there were a lot more scheduling issues this year...
- Size/use of the Hilton rooms. First, I just want to say I liked the rooms on the main floor of the Hilton. The rooms on the other floor though... well, they were tiny. At least, they were tiny for the panels scheduled in them. This could just be that some panels were not expected to be so popular, but the lack of a "waiting area" or place to line up for them just compounded the problem. I think the staff did better with controlling traffic on Saturday though. And I'm glad the door from the skybridge to the panel rooms eventually got opened up.
The go-in-the-small-elevator-to-get-in-another-elevator thing was weird.
- Angry elevator lady. I don't know who she was or if she was even on ACen staff (I could not see what badge(s) she had, I'm too short to see over people), but Saturday (?) when the elevator traffic was getting really crazy, the crowded elevator got to the very bottom floor and she wigged out that people were riding all the way down to just go back up. She also threatened she would make us all get off and walk the stairs to get to our rooms. Which made me mad on three counts: (1) I was the person who pressed the button for the elevator. I pressed "up." The elevator arrived and the arrow also pointed up. I got on, but it went down. I have no idea why that even happened. For all I know, someone's bottom pressed a button to go down. (2) I'm not 5. And I do not appreciate being treated rudely. (3) I'm not about to walk up 9 flights of stairs in cosplay unnecessarily. I'm asthmatic.
I realize some people can be complete bozos and have to really be prodded to do anything. But there's a fine line between being assertive to correct a problem and being demeaning. As my mom says, "Let's not put the F-U in fun, okay?"
In other news, I was overwhelmingly pleased with the rest of the staff I interacted with. There's a lot to be said for just being nice. So, thank you for that.
And just a suggestion item: I'm not sure why the ticket system was taken away for main events, but I really liked it the last time it was implemented. The tickets were basically general admission with scheduled seating times I believe. So you knew where to be and when, without the uneasiness of waiting in line and possibly waiting that whole time without ever getting in.
