The Meet and Greet has been scheduled.... It will not APPEAR on any formal MASTER schedule, but just know it will be in the following...

MEETING INFORMATION:

WHEN: FRIDAY, MAY 8th 2009 : 9:00 AM


This is not a mandatory meeting... the goal is this:

1) Iron out any details
2) Go over last minute panel rules/topics
3) Pass out badges if we have them
4) Give any last minute information

I live in Indiana about an hour out of Chicago, and I know I'm leaving at about 6 or 7AM on Friday to drive up there. Assuming traffic is the worst traffic I've been through in my life, I'm hoping to get there by 10AM. I would definetly want Friday. Thanks!

I'd like to say I'd be there on Thursday in time... but since I'm coming from Ohio and might be working till 5pm that day still, my vote went for Friday.

Just so you all know... Traffic is HORRIBLE in chicago now haha.

We have construction on every single expressway, and on/off ramps up here. So I would "plan" ahead for at least 30 minutes of traffic.

Hello, all!

My vote is for Thursday evening, as I work and have meetings on Friday morning.

Out of curiosity, is there a possibity that the meet-and-greet can be available for people to join via Skype (or a comparable speakerphone or free conference method), or accessible by some sort of digital means? It would be cool if anyone could join in and participate.

Even though I guess neither of my panels has been confirmed or denied yet (Shounen-ai, Dating Auction ^-^ v), I voted for Friday. It is really inconvenient for students, but it's more likely my group would be able to make it Friday than a day before ^^; And of course, if panels are starting around 12 or so, it would make sense to want to have the meeting beforehand.. Although I will admit, I was worried it would be a random date before the convention entirely. ^-^ Lol

Hrm... I am not sure I would have the ability to do this, as Internet Speed at the hotel is not very good at all, I have a good connection at home, comcast 50mbit, so I can host tons of calls, but trying to do a skype at the hotel would not be easy, short of a webcast, but again not easy. If I did a SKYPE, I could have a PRE MEETING a few days before the CON and go over everything if you want with a skype meeting for those who cannot attend if there is enough of a draw for it.

This might be an April fools joke, because last year we were told there was going to be one thursday night and when we showed up no one had any clue what we were talking about. But I would attend one Friday morning if it is'nt a joke.

Who planned it? I had no knowledge of one.

This is NOT an april fools joke. There will be times and such posted and if you sign up on the mailing list via www.acenpanels.org I will be e-mailing out the exact room and time.

SEE! That's what everyone was saying. But I have an email from panel programming telling us there was a meet and greet. It was either From Eric Chapell or Jesica. No hard feelings though, we found like 3 other panelists who showed up for the thing and talked to them in the hallway for a few minutes.

You guys are doing a great job this year, so I'm sure you you say there will be a meet and greet, then there will be. Keep up the good work.

I Can answer that, Eric was "let go" from Panel staff a few months before con, so anything he did most likely did not get translated over. Sorry about that.

I would prefer on Thursday...but how about a small meetup on both days? I know alot of people prefer Friday because they don't get in until friday, but those of us arriving Thursday would most likely like it on Thurs because it wouldn't interfere with anything.

Thats harder, as we need time to setup all the rooms. So when I am not there and doing this meet up, it takes me/ADH/DH away from everything else for an hour or so. I am not sure about two days, as only 10 or so people.

Not to mention I am taking the totals up there and subtracting 5 for how many will actually show up. =)

speaking of badges, is there anyway to confirm mine has been setup as a panel badge? I emailed the panel DH and he asked me for my badge number which I sent back to him and haven't heard anything since.

Well we did the best we could, we can't push it too much earlier due to rooms not being open for security purposes. As you can see even if I move it up to 10 AM, it still conflicts with a panel, any earlier and rooms will still being setup and stuff =(

Your panel badge??

Obviously if you got an e-mail CONFIRMING your panel then you were approved for a panel which means you get a service to con badge....
