One other question.

Will there be any reason to play harder songs such as those rated as Nightmare and Impossible if it's only going to be judged on the percentage of notes hit? That would mean all a band needs to do is pick easy songs and zazz it up a bit.

It has already been addressed that playing on different difficulties scales in our scoring system.

If it has not been said yet, each band member will be watched closely to see just how well they are playing their part of the song. On an individual basis (singer / guitarist / bassist / drummer) you will get a score on how you played, seperate of %notes hit.


I would suggest against playing any of the insanely difficult songs; When everyone is focused on acing the notes (or just passing), there is little room / time to be origional.

Just would like to request an update on what the setup is going to be like for the band whenever you know something. I'm running over what I know in my head repeatedly, but I just can't see one TV for 4 people to play off working very well in a stage atmosphere. Any chance we could split it out to a couple TV's on either end of the stage, or look into maybe running a projector to put it on the back wall? Just a couple ideas to kick around.

I might be able to do a mock-up of what it should be like on stage. But, there is really no way to know exactly what the entire setup will look like until I set foot in the room at ACen.

The current plan is to have a tv on the ground, slighty angled upwards. It will be dead-ahead of the drummer. I picture the guitarist off to one side, bassist on the other, with singer either further up front slightly off to either side.

I could give numbers for how far away everything should be, but none of us will know for-sure until at-con.

1 TV does work just needs to be a good size. I did it with my band at Anime Iowa and it worked just fine.

Yes you can bring them as long as they are PS3. However, if your equipment errors out you do not get a second chance. I am going to limit instruments to RB Guitars, and the RB Drum-kick Pedal ONLY.

We will NOT be switching out mics or full drumsets every time someone goes on stage.


So again, RB Guitars are ok, and the Drum Kick Pedal is ok.

Here's something I forgot to ask. In a four person team, can you have people switch postions? Like if I wanted to sing one song and say my bassist wanted to sing another and we just switched roles on the songs is that allowed since it's still a 4 person team?

Yes, switching roles is fine.

The restriction on this is that you cannot switch out a 5th member. Only the 4 that sign up are allowed onstage.

I'm not a huge fan of country but I download a couple songs just to get mine some varitey so that other people have songs they like in it too. But whatever that's off topic. I'm not sure how used people are to getting RB plugged up to HDTV but I am doing much worse in HD then regular. I mess with the cailbriation so much and I still can get the right setting. Any hope of using just regualr TVs and a projection screen?

My personal setup is LCD HDTV and Stereo. Using the auto-calibration feature, the gameplay timing is perfect.

The specifics of the setup at-con will not matter, because we will be calibrating the system right there on the spot.

I'm with you on this one (though I do love country... ) My 46" LCD TV plays RB1/2 perfectly with no calibration...

I hear that the calibration issues are hard though for Plasma and other types of HD..

The 30min practice block is anytime after you've signed up and another band isn't practicing. Practice times start friday when the signup sheet goes out, and will continue saturday.

There will be a "band-only" RB setup strictly for tourny practice. In order to use it, you need to contact the staff table so we can be sure you are in fact one of our BotRB Bands.

Agreed. At least for an option.

Our scoring system is specifically set up for 4 band members. Taking one (band member) out would be greatly detremental to your overall score.

This year, 4-man-bands only.

Next year? Who knows!

What sort of chair(s) are available for the drummer? I'm sure this sounds strange but I am a little particular about how I'm sitting when drumming. Would it be out of the question for me to bring my own chair/stool?

Admittidly, its not the most comfortable thing in the world, but it is second to none for Drumming.

I was quite dissapointed in this. Being one of the people that posted and tried to help out with ideals for this online. and then not even being able to play sucked. Plus having no fail mode on and having everyone sign up right before the trouny started sucked too. Hopefully that'll change next year. But the set up was good though.
