Reason: It belongs up there with those other fighters! A fair number of people come to play whatever the newest version of this is every year. And I know I'm not the only person who has consecutively participated in its tournaments for the past couple of years.
Whatever the newest version of Melty Blood is/will be might be a good suggestion as well. Even though I don't personally play it, I know it usually gets a small but loyal group to play in tourneys.

Good call on GG. Now melty blood... for as many ACen's as I can remember, its always had a giant calling on the forums then maybe 5 people at con. There may be an unoffical tournament for it, but thats as far as that.

Semicolon-underscore-semicolon aka crying text face is techincally descriptive, but constructive? not so much. I don't personally play the KoF series, so why is M12 better than XI?

I'm sorry, I just had to put my initial reaction! Forgive me.
I'm being a little biased here, because my favorite character
is in MI2, and not XI, but I personally like MI2 better than XI because
it's a 3-D KoF game, rather than 2-D, and I think it just adds something
extra. I don't know. XI is a classic, 3-on-3 2-D team fighter that everyone
loves. It's really not up to me, but even though XI is newer, I still prefer
the 3-D fighters. Also, the voices in XI are strictly in Japanese, while in
MI2, you can make them in English (although the voice acting is an entirely
different story...).
Sorry about before - I hope that clears things up.

I am Chris, and I will be running your fighting game tournaments this year. I ran GGXXAC last year, and my rules will be no different this year. Also, expect some minor changes to the tournament list, including the addition of Sugoi! Arcana Heart 2!
I look forward to meeting you all this year, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask me, either by way of a private message or e-mail. Let's make the tournaments this year a big success!

I would like a GG one too, maybe even Accent core plus since it comes out in April. But then again, i'm not trying to game as much this year. I'll limit myself to 3 tournies.

Also, I'm going to have a list of tournament rules posted up once everything is set in stone.
This sounds like a pretty good call... RA has the awesomeness of more random little tweaks that make it fun.
Personally, I think a KOF and KOF MI game should both be included since they play so dang differently!
And yay, I got my favoritest series ever to be added! [feels special]

Be at the station when I call your name. I had to DQ a lot of people last year during GG and I don't feel like I should have had to. If you can't come to play your match when I call your name on a freaking megaphone, you should probably have your hearing checked.

On second thought, that is an amazing idea. I throw my full support behind MIRA.

XI will be rescheduled according to interest at the con. The numbers for the game last year were less than that of MIRA, which was an unofficial game, which warrants it not being an official tourney this year.
Again, if anyone has questions, I am open to suggestions.

Every year for the past few ACENs ive requested a tournament for whatever was the most current game in the Budokai series. It usually turns out pretty good with the 07 Tournament pulling in over 40 people and ended with a pretty solid finals as seen here

Last year i had a girlfriend that didnt want me playing video games all day so i didnt push to hard for a tournament. This year im gonna be alot more lonely so i can concentrate on what really matters obscure moderately respectable DBZ fighting games that maybe 50 people on earth can play well
Once again to try and display the qualities of this series to the fanbase i wanna request a DBZ Infinite World Tournament for ACEN 2009.Im trying to get as many of the Veteran players from our community as possible to attend and ive even willing to show people some of the more advanced mechanics and tactics in the game.Seriously tell me you dont wanna learn how to stuff like this

How about it guys

Any shmup would be great actually... and it should be pretty easy to have at least one in the game room, maybe on a multi-cart neo geo or someones old saturn etc...
Is there anyone else that plays for score?

As cool as old school tournys are, they rarely draw enough people to make it worth having one. Its a very hit-or-miss thing.
HiougiQ:
SF & SC will be played on what is avilable unless otherwise noted by TheMightyCBee, as he is incharge of fighters. The tournaments we do or don't put in the list are based off of prior attendance. If we held it and only 10 people showed up, it gets cut for the next year.
Just because a game is not listed here means that there is no OFFICIAL tournament for it. Attendees are more than welcome to hold Unofficial tourneys for any game they please. The catch is that ACen will not provide prize(s) for unofficial tournaments.

I overcame the ACen rapture in '11.
I survived the ACen fire in '10.
I dodged the H1N1 outbreak in '09.
I was denied ice cream at the ACen 10th Anniversary ice cream social in '07.

Naruto GNT 4 will still get a solid turn out cause many people still prefer it over the newer games.
I can even help run both Naruto games. I should be able to attend them even though I am staffing. I can just ask for the time off during those events.
I also second the recommendation of DBZ at the convention. I am sure it will get a lot of people, last time we ran it late at night pass Midnight and the tournament still got about 50 people. I am sure people will show up again.

I will have a full set-up for it. I know many people will want to play as their favorite Tatsunoko characters in a fighting game. I know I can probably get one more person to bring a set-up and have 2 there. I even have Wii Arcades Sticks if people want to use them for a tournament.
If it does not in the official tournament line up that is fine. As long as I get permission to run a Side Tournament for Tatssunoko vs Capcom should be awesome.
