With all the talk in HaruHe's Crossplayers, Unite For 09 & since my Crossplay Coallition thread has been inactive & possibly got archived, I've started a new thread.

Hopefully we can get a good photoshoot this year & with some help I can create a badge similar to what the Glomp Team had a few years ago.

I think Caramelldansen didn't need to be stated. It seems to have become a tradition for almost every photoshoot. Course that's cause it's very easy to learn.

... what is this!? What, can we not crossplay if we want?! Isn't the whole idea of cosplay "costume play" and PLAY, meaning having fun? The fun is we get to be someone else for a day! To put on anothers skin and clothes and not have to be ourselves the whole time! So what if we choose to be a character of the opposite gender? We picked the cosplay/crossplay because we LIKE the character and would have a good time making their costume and wearing it!

I think, for a serious goal of this club, should be eliminating negative views on crossplay... and getting people to open their eyes and realize; 'it's not that bad; and gee, if they want to; who am I to stop them? They don't stop me from cosplaying the characters I want.'

People need to realize it will happen, and it's not bad. It's fine and fun. And funny, if you choose to make it so...

The only problem with "trying to make people accept us" is the people who can't accept us already probably won't change their views. If they go to a con and can't accept crossplay, they probably think that it's gross/wrong/what-have-you and that they are right and we are ultimately wrong. That is a closeminded view of things; but people who can't get over little things like other people dressing as the opposite gender, that's their loss. Trying to convince them otherwise will only feel like beating your head on a while. And if you're trying to convince people OUTSIDE of cosplay and conventions, good luck on that all together. Most of them hardly understand cosplay, let all crossplay.

I would also like to say I understand what your friend was probably trying to say. I don't think she was trying to be mean or hurt your feelings. She's right. Some people just have girly faces that aren't made for cosplay (like mine). With the right makeup, it's easy to change that; but, it does become harder to successfully pull off crossplay if you have a girl face/man face/whatever face. I think she was just saying you are pretty enough to pull off girls if you chose to. Of course, with small boobs (like you and I have), people might think you're crossplaying even if you do dress as a girl. *has happened to me*

Maybe us just banning together like this helps give crossplay a boost. Like strength in numbers?

I've caught heat from people for crossplaying every single convention I go to because it's deemed "breaking a barrier that shouldn't be broken." Y'know what? Screw what you think, you don't like it? Don't look at me, it's as easy as that. I hate people who just HAVE to voice their negativity and ruin the fun for those who actually like to do this like us. If dressing like a girl/boy if you're a boy/girl makes you happy, then by god do it, if people can't accept it, that's their problem and can sit & spin.

And I feel bad for you, HaruHe, because people look down on guy crossdressers/crossplayers so much more than they do females.

Honestly in my opinion, it shouldn't matter if you have the face for the crosstume, seeing as this is the "land of the free" you should be able to do anyone you want and be free from persecution. Unfortunately there are people who are going to complain regardless of how it's done anyways since they themselves can't seem to just be happy and let things go. Nothing makes me more upset than when I see folks give others a hard time about their costumes just because they're of the opposite gender, it's rude, it's wrong, and it's just downright unfair. I ESPECIALLY hate those who give crossers a hard time when they themselves aren't even IN a costume, I believe you have NO right to say anything about anyone's costume if you yourself won't even dress up.

Anyways, I have problems too with not liking my crossplay/dressing. My mom actually is disturbed by it... I find it hypocritical of her to judge, though.... Considering she is an lesbian.

Hahaha, I remember our convo about that Kanks, it was a good one. Both of us got pretty worked up about it if I remember correctly and who can blame us? It's not something we do just for fun, it's something we do to show honor to the people we choose basically saying "Thanks for being so awesome, to show how much you are, I'll model myself after you for a day." Kinda sucks that people who are too afraid to even put on a costume, or those who can't seem to be content with themselves are out to bash people. (Liked your matriarch in the house by the way, pretty cool lady.)
