1 Wal-Mart Worker trampled to death in Long Island, N.Y.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081128/ap_on_.../wal_mart_death

2 Shot Dead in Toys R' Us

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?...7.DTL&tsp=1

This is just ridiculous, no material object is worth the lives of others. Be careful when shopping this season.

The worst part is that this kind of stuff happens every year and the stores do absolutely nothing to try to fix it. Would it be so hard to go down the line, an hour before the store opens, and tell people they get 1 item, choose. Then they get a ticket they can use to purchase that one item...then they go down the line in this fashion, once tickets of a particular item run out...too bad so sad, try again next year.

That way there is absolutely no need to bum rush the doors and nearly kill each other to save $20 on a toaster...

People would become restless then and find ways to steal tickets, or claim the person they stole it from gave it to them. Truly our human race acts rather beastly when it comes to material possesions and it's absolutely saddening. I usually just wait for the first or second week of December before I do my holiday shopping, alot safer and less time consuming.

I did the Black Friday morning at Best Buy. It was controlled and the people were respectful to each other. I stood outside at 3am. My toes got numb but I toughed it out. XD

I do most of my holiday shopping online because of crap like this or at least plan out what I'm going to get my family. After that, then I go out and get it if I can get the item in a store nearby. I've grown to hate the holidays, the insanity of material possessions and shopping chaos being one of the reasons. Everyone focuses on what they want to get over being with family and dear ones.

I doubt that would happen a whole lot and even if it did...the worst that would happen is a fist fight and that wouldn't benefit either party as they'd both be kicked off store premesis. But hey, even if one does break out, its a hell of a lot better than people getting trampled and killed which seems to happen every year.

Well said sir, I suppose that would beat trampling and senseless death, but if we could just find a way to have everyone shop and go about their ways in an orderly fashion it'd be great for everyone. Unfortunately I just don't see that happening.

Why must people act like monsters on all days. I hope it goes as a lesson that they need tighter security or just end early door sales all together. Really is it worth trampelling down people for a item? Seriously. This is corporate greed at its worst.

You trample people every day on the forums you old codger. Not in the same way. What I would give to have tear gas in these stores, and rubber slugs.

All I have to say is moo.. These "people" take consumerism to a whole new level. No five dollar discount is worth someone having to die, while they are stressing having to be at their piss a$$ job catering to the rude, ignorant masses. Further makes me want to avoid the general populace if I can help it.

This is why I don't go outside on Black Friday... Besides, there's nothing in a store that I want that would propel me to get up at some ungodly hour just to save, like, $20 and risk life and limb for it. I'll just wait until it goes on sale because no one wants it anymore.

I worked at Toys "R" Us for a season so it really doesn't surprise me. People that shop there are at 5 in the morning are insane. I usually try to shop before Thanksgiving, because after that it's impossible to get parking anywhere near Gurnee Mills/Hawthorne Mall/ or the retail stores around here.

<3 online shopping.

I went out today and while it was crowded and a tad bit crazy, it wasnt that bad.
Although I did see ambulances and police cars at kohls, but for what reason, I dont know.
I dont think anyone got hurt or else I would have heard something about it.
Someone probably had an anxiety or asthma attack from being around so many people.

But it is really crazy when people start hurting and trampling eachother just to get an item, most likely electronic, when it itll probably be that price in probably less than a year. Nothing is worth a person's life.

I'm gonna be cheap this year. I'm not gonna sacrifice my life for a laptop or a Wii so a bunch of out of control nuts stomp all over me. I'm very sorry that Wal Mart employee lost his life for what, cheap prices and the whack jobs who wanted them. Some people just have no heart at all.

It seems like the craziness is slowly getting worse and worse every year. It's going to get the point where stores are going to open at midnight on black friday. It seems like the stores only care about cramming as many people as they can in a store, without putting enough employees in the store to handle the increased volume. Every year our store puts more product in and between the isles, creating smaller passages for people to get around while scheduling less and less people to help manage the chaos. The best time to shop on the day after Thanksgiving is at night. Not nearly as many people are out, but by then almost all the sales are over.

Black friday shopping does kinda suck and usually i'm either really drunk or delerious from lack of sleep but its not all that bad. Then again I never go to any consumer electronic stores, wal marts, or targets since I refuse to stay in line for hours to save a few bucks that I could just save from my paychecks. I mean some lines is like equivelant to a work day unless your getting the blockbuster deal like the 200 dollar laptop or a 360 for 75 bucks. I guess black friday would be most beneficial if you work at a low wage at a grueling job then the effort and time would be worth it.

The whole issue with two people being shot over Black Friday shopping reminds me even MORE why I feel that guns should be banned. This is the kind of thing that happens when anyone is allowed to get a gun.
