After playing a zombie survival game at college, I've decided to share with friends back in Illinois. The game will be for the duration of December. There will be designated places and times. That way no one gets in trouble for bringing guns to work or school or pelting 'civilians' or people not playing with darts and socks.

Basic rules:

Zombies wear bandanas on their necks or foreheads. Humans wear bandanas on one of their biceps. When doing this, they may not be hidden by scarves or hoods. The color should be vibrant and easily seen no matter what you happen to be wearing. You only need wear them while we play. You may take them off for events such as bathroom breaks or eating, moments when you don't want to get attacked. If a person isn't wearing a bandana, they cannot play. Remember to replace your bandana before playing.

If a zombie sees a human he or she should try to 'turn' the human. In case of a 'real' zombie, humans can literally wrestle with them and not be turned. To become a zombie the human must have a break in the skin for the infection to enter in through. If a zombie player gets their finger under the bandana, the human is turned. Zombies, I recommend keeping a hold of the human's bandana or tugging to indicate the event of turning. Humans, I suggest tucking bandana tail underneath the rest of the bandana so it's not as easy to be turned. Once a human is turned into a zombie, they are considered dead until ripsaw. When this happens, they need to take their bandana off and are not active until after a ripsaw and they retie their bandana on their forehead or neck.

Humans may use dart guns or sock bombs. Once a zombie is spotted, humans may use these projectile weapons in defense or offence. Once a zombie has been 'killed' or hit, it becomes safe or 'inactive'. They remain this way until the next ripsaw, when all the zombies become 'active' and may turn humans into zombies. Zombies are required to take off their bandana after taking a hit. It is also common curtsey to help the humans retrieve their ammo. Darts and socks cost money, and zombies usually have a better idea where they landed than humans. Bandanas don't have to be removed for the infection to spread.

Speaking of attacks, only foam dart guns and sock bombs are acceptable human defenses. The guns don't have to be exclusively Nerf, but something similar. Modding is acceptable. No matter what you use, make sure it doesn't hurt at any range. Simply make sure the impact will be felt. These defenses are projectiles, not for tagging. Bullets don�t work as well when tossed, and bombs at close range tend to be a bad idea.

Respawn means that all inactive zombies become active and are able to turn humans again. For now, it is every hour, on the hour. If things get boring, I'll change it to every half hour, being: 00 and :30. The Rules on this topic may change, so keep your eyes open. I will post the change before it goes in effect.

Indoors are considered safe zones. This includes vehicles, bikes, cars, truck beds, roller blades, anything with wheels. Wheel chairs are exceptions. A person is considered in a safe zone when both feet are inside the area. People in the safe zone are considered as 'temporarily out of play' just like taking off a bandana. A person cannot shoot from or be shot at once in a safe zone.

Both type of player may travel in groups. Zombies have one large Horde. Humans have Strike Teams. Naming and organizing teams can happen here or elsewhere. Both sides should have numbers so as to contacts and assemble The Horde or their team. So as to preserve fairness, if a zombie is inactive or a human was turned, it is not cool to call The Horde or their team to 'avenge' their loose. It's only temporary, after the next ripsaw everyone can play again.

Absolutely no melee attacks. Ever. People might actually get hurt, which tends to ruin a game.

Most importantly, fair play. The point isn't to survive. The point of this game is to play. Turning into a zombie does not mean you have lost, it means you get the best of both worlds. The game is based upon honor rules. If some human or zombie refuses to take a hit, the only thing people get is frustrated. Don�t be "that human" or "one of those zombies" who makes it hard to enjoy. If you're looking to ruin fun, get on X-Box live. Let me play my game.

Anyone is allowed to join, they just need a bandana. If anyone misbehaves, they will be banned from play. I don't have the right to send you to jail, but you'll get a reputation among good gamers as a jerk. All zombies require one hit kill, and all humans require one tug turns.

In order to not involve non-players, asking people if they�re playing are ok. Players are required to answer, even if your in game life might be in danger, as in The Horde just surrounded you but your bandana is hard to see. Don�t chase everyone that runs, they may not be playing. The game is a month long, you'll get them eventually.

I think I got everything. If anyone wants to start as a zombie let me know. Starting zombies are allowed to turn into humans after 10 kills in a single day/night.

PS, I claim no rights to the game, its rules, or anything that doesn't belong to me. I just want to play with friends and be allowed to be in charge.

Ok weird story but I dreamed that i was playing this game with a bunch of other people. Everything was going well till people started fighting about territories and then when I was looking for a place to hide The Ring Girl came out and scared the crap out of me ;-; Then I woke up xD

I'm talking with a few people, researching locations, and waiting for more people to post. I need to know who is interested in playing. if it ends up being 10, it may be difficult to keep the game going. I'm hoping for about 25. That way, if even half can't make it to a gathering, we have a healthy number for the game to go on.

As long as I know the person, or they introduce themselves, the locations will be given to whoever emails me. I don't want to allow anyone to play, there were problems with stalkers/harrasment on campus. Some creepy guy was following my group of humans, implying very crude things. But, as a team we dealt with the situation and resolved it non-violently. It'll be by invitation only.

Over all, I could use some advice. I haven't been in charge of anything more complicated than my birthday parties. I'm trying to think of what I need to do, but suggestions are more than welcome.

PS if anyone is interested in being a starter zombie, PM or email me. I'm looking for 2 or 3 right now. I've lowered the 10-kill rule to 5. If a starter zombie gets 5 kills in a single gathering, they become human. After that, they can become a zombie again. You can get the best of both worlds, and twice a zombie!

There was a group called S.I.M.B.A. They were a small group lead by Rafiki. Unfortunately there were some leadership issues and a separate team, S.C.A.R. was created. The coolest part was the intricate acronym they had set up. SIMBA stood for Special Intelligence Munitions and Ballistics Alliance, S.C.A.R. was Stealth Coordinated Assault Recon.

Note: I suggest no cosplays in general. So often pant knees and shirt elbows have been ripped open during retreats or pursuits.

I'm not sure if I've mentioned the total time of all this. This is a month long game. All of December.

Since we are scattered across cities, there isn't a constant paranoa factor as there was at my school. But, we will have a few gatherings every week. Weekends especially, the game is on. I'm sure people are busy at various times for whatever reason, but there are multiple days for that purpose. If you make it to only one, make it a rocking one.

So i was thinking, if you were protecting yourself from zombies wouldn't you want a crowbar or sword or something? Hell if i were on the run i'd have one \= no reloading! Though it was not in our rules here stated by FMC, I've seen that many games of HvZ are played with foam swords as well as the nerf and sock arsenal. Foam toy swords, or foam pool noodles, i've seen them both used. Hell NIU's HvZ games are played exclusively with melee weapons due the the tragic incident last Valentines day...

You could argue that it would be too easy to just hit a zombie that's running at you, and i would agree that it wouldn't be too hard. But i just wanna throw the idea out there. Maybe some people don't want to buy nerf guns, or if they're low on money can't afford more then a Nitefinder or Mav. Something like a foam pool noodle would be very cheap, espescially since it's winter, sales everywhere on pool supplies that are still out there. KB toys sells foam swords, i'm sure toys are us or any other toy store would.

I expect to lose alot of darts, and these things can get expesive for people like me who have little expendable income. Getting ambushed, takign a copule shots, and running i'm sure will have more then one person losing several darts, but why do that when you could just pull a sword and slice about? I'm just saying that they have their advantages.

I'm sure everyone has their feelings on how good or bad an idea this is. I'm listening out to hear what everyone thinks! I say if we get a majority 'O.K' then we should go with it. If not then lets leave things as they are! BTW! I'm suggesting only soft things, no foam covered sticks, the stuff has to be soft enough that you would accept being hit with it full force. As is always an issue, we need to make sure no one gets hurt.

And while we're talking about alternate weapons, i found a wiki site for the Mass U HvZ group, apparently marshmallows are fair game weapons as well! I like the idea, cheap and okay to lose since their food (okay for dogs and birds and squirrels???) Marshmallow bombs XD i say if we impliment them and the zomibes catch them in their mouths then it doesn't count as a hit XD Said this more for the fact that it's funny then relevent, no one is gonna know they got hit with the damn things ^^6...

I think that foam noodles would make zombie attacks difficult if not impossible. Plus, running out of amo, gun jamming, and missing a target makes the game challenging.
