Chinese New Year In Chinatown

- Information: Dress Warm! Every year Chicago's Chinatown neighborhood hosts a New Year's Day Parade down the main thoroughfare, Wentworth Avenue from 24th to Cermak Rd. This year's procession will include the traditional 100 foot long mystical dragon, several marching bands, floats from individuals and businesses in the community and the annual favorites- the lion teams. The parade kicks off at Wentworth and 24th, ending in Chinatown Square, on February 1st at 1:00 p.m. sharp. All public parking along the parade route is restricted on the day of the event, but you can still park in metered parking in the surrounding streets. I would recommend using the El, Red LinCelebrating the Chinese New Year in Chicago 2009: Year of the Oxe stop Cermak-Chinatown, which leaves you off right in the heart of all the action.

(Dominick's also sells tickets at a discount price prior to the start of the Taste so try to get them from there) It's probably best to get a few strips (2 or 3)

Yup... January 26. So it looks like if there will be a meetup, it will be the weekend before or after that (most likely before?). I'm not sure how it's decided every year, but the last meetup was held after the actual day, wasn't it? (Feb. 9, when the actual date was Feb. 7).
