Actually it's really easy to do. I'm using 2 boken & cutting off the hilt of one & part of the 'blade' of the other. Then making some way of sticking on into the front & one into the back. The sword parts are gonna be completely removable so I won't get in trouble with IRT.

Ah, I see.

You know how to make a buster sword by any chance? I found some wood for the hilt and the very end of the hilt and I want to work around the wood (it's a like a stick...well, it is a stick, a thick stick at that.).

Sadly, no. I bought mine online & can't remember where. I'm almost tempted to use it as Ichigo's original sword since they're so similar. Only the Buster sword has a curved guard & the sealed Zangetsu had a blocky guard.

You mean the very first sword that Ichigo used? You're right, they are similar. >_>

Hm...I have no idea then. That's what I'm really stuck on.

Yeah that sword.

I'll see if I can find anything. I know I found mine by doing a google search & there were lots of tutorials about how to make them.

I'm still deciding whether I want to remake my FFX Rikku costume, because I want to make the Warrior class from X-2. If neither go as planned, Im still going to wear my Relm. Old Skool!

I hope I'll be able to make it as Lulu, too! If that plan falls through, there is a small, small possibility I might be able to show up as Celes Chere in her opera dress, but that's rather slim.

Hm...I kind of don't want to make my sword out of wood. Is there any other material that I can make the Buster Sword out of???

You can make it out of Acrykic Sheet. I found a place online that sell them here Course it can get expensive. Another place to check is Home Depot.

I was lucky in getting mine. My cousin is giving me 4 sheets 2ft by 4ft & my uncle is selling me a 4ft by 8ft sheet for $15 which to order would cost around $150. It's gonna be used to make my Ronin Warriors cosplay for 2010.

I'd suggest something called 'sintra' over the typical acrylic sheeting. I've found that, unless its polycarbonate, acrylic sheets are hard to cut out, and break too easily or splinter, and it can get costly. Sintra is like God. It's so easy to cut and form. Ive used it many times for armor and small props and have seen its use in swords. It's lightweight when you use the thinner sheets and shouldnt cost an arm and a leg. Ive even seen a Buster sword made out of the stuff a couple years back.

What might be best is to make a 'frame' out of pink insulation foam and then cover it in sintra pieces, or if you're on a budget, cardboard will work too.

I have always wanted to do a Dagger cosplay but only if I had a Zidane.
I had someone in mind to be my Zidane...i'm just to shy to ask him if he would really do it with me.
'sides, i'm not sure if my friend and i can make a really good Dagger cosplay.

hehehe.

Zidane seems to be one of those rare cosplays, yet, he's well recognized. I would love to see one. How bout an Amano Zidane?

Hmm, tempting.

To whomever was asking about making swords, I agree with R1KKu. Pink insulation foam is cheap, lightweight, and easy enough to reinforce. If you handle it carefully and don't go swinging it around wildly it should hold up. I made a very large (eight foot) gun out of it and all I reinforced it with was posterboard and it held up wonderfully (even I was shocked). If you use contact cement it gives it more strength, too, as opposed to just using Elmer's glue.

If insulation foam and posterboard sound like pushing your luck or a path you don't want to take you could also look into Polystyrene sheets, they come in a variety of thicknesses and are easy enough to cut (you can probably use scissors but I recommend an X-ACTO knife especially for thicker sheets). I'm not sure about pricing on those but if you have a hobby/model store by your house you could always take a look.

Not that I'm aware of... I think, for Polystyrene sheeting, you're going to need to go to, say, a model car/train shop. Somewhere they sell supplies for making scale models or painting them. I don't think Michaels or Hobby Lobby sells polystyrene, though you might be able to find it in Hobby Lobby if you look in the model car section if they have one, and who knows, maybe they can order some for you.

I might do my Songstrees Yuna cosplay....but it all depends. My hair might be dyed a different color for another cosplay that I'm doing so it might not work....and anyway it would only be for pre-con thrusday because I already have cosplays planned out for Fri,Sat, and Sun.
