Last year didn't happen most likely cause the person who was "organizing" it is pretty much a failure in that department. Which is why I never bothered to look into it last year cause I knew it wouldn't happen. But yeah, if someone wants to organize something for this year I'll pop my head in assuming I don't have other plans at the time. Just remember the most important part of event planning is communication...make sure people know exactly when and where it is.

I think it would be a nice idea. I kind of understand that us older folks are busy, and that's probably why organizing the gathering would be difficult. But, I can kind of relate to being with people my age. When my older sister was my age, she already married and had kids only two years afterward. Another one of my older sisters had babies when she was 21. I'll be 24 in June '09. And a lot of adults my age are already thinking about marriage and kids, and I'm just thinking of where I wanna eat this evening. And I can kind of relate to the younger kids, too--I'm still in that 'my parents are LAME' phase. However, lots of younger otaku say 'blah blah, I hate cheerleaders, blah blah, popular people suck' and it gets annoying.

21+? Totally, I'm down for that as I've been looking to go some place where I could meet folks who enjoy what I do, but not leave with a migraine and even less want to get up the next day for work. Just be warned, if it's booze, don't expect me to tank easily, also expect jokes if I end up reaching that level as I love to be a comedian.

Ancient dust? But that makes me ancient though T-T.

When it gets closer to the con and we have a concrete time/date, I'll gladly take people's numbers to text them a reminder at con. But yeah, don't send them now its way too early and I'll probably either delete the PM or delete the number out of my phone.

Why make the meetup so late? Aren't meetups meant for people to meet up in order to make the wait for acen more enjoyable? I understand that we're all busy and all but I'm sure we could come to an agreement.

21+ meetups just tend to work better when it's later in the day, let alone it's always a good time to catch a drink or two at the bar.

i mean it makes sense for all of us *old* people to go out past dark its more fun when we can hang out till 2am getting drunk - but as for an actually time it doesn’t really matter to me - i mean I’m here from thursday night till monday morning - I’m special so whenever you all wanna meet up I’m good and ready - but like i said before as long as I’m reminded beforehand (thanx you FlyingElf ) i don’t think ill forget this time - lol - oh and incase some of you *old* people don’t have a place to stay yet I’ve got a room (already posted here... http://www.acen.org/...showtopic=25173 ) so if you want to come pass out in my room just let me know ahead of time - lol

I understand the question, the key is seting it up so even people farther away can come. If anyone is intrested...I'd be more than glad to set something up.

Furthermore, If people would like, I'd be able to update through PM on either of the meet ups. Last year the meet up was a flop do to it being late. There were 3 - 4 of us that actually showed. I personaly would like more of a turnout this year

oh i completly agree - i went to a forum meetup during another con and maybe 5 of us showed up - and there were like a total of 70 something that said they were interested - knowing all the details and having numbers so we can text freely to remind people sounds like a really good idea - makes the most sense anyway - and as for a pre-acen meetup im all for that too - i mean it means ill have to eithor take the train or drive my happy butt up there but im all for it

If people want to do it. I'd need a center location... If you're up for a "pre-meet" meet, PM me with a town close to you and a date / Time you guys would like to do it.
