Since there is a deadline for gatherings to be listed in the program book, we should really consider a time and place by 3/7.

What does everyone think about having it at 10 or 11 AM, Saturday morning?

Hopefully I'll be able to bring my Painted Lady costume to the shoot. It depends very much on whether I can get my Stupid Hat onto Megabus. If not, I'll be happy playing shutterbug!

Saturday's the best day for a shoot - but where to have it? I think the Garden and the Garden Fountain look like nice areas, but will the group be too big? (The limit is 30 people)
Where was it last year? I don't have much knowledge of the convention center, so if any of the veterans would like to jump in here...

Checking the cosplay.com photoshoot list, here's what's already spoken for:

10 AM - Dome and Garden already taken

3 PM - Tree Patch and Loading Docks taken

4 PM - Tree Patch and Loading Docks taken

Okay everyone, I talked with the thread starter, Chaos-Zuko and have found out that they will not be cosplaying Avatar this year. However, there is still a strong enough interest to have a gathering this year.

How's this for a gathering time?

Hello everyone! I wanted to pop in give a rain backup location which is the East Indoor wall area, Its easy for everyone to spot since its to the right of the escalators if your coming in from the main hotel entrance.

btw Xiao, Just wondering which version of Zuko do you prefer? And would have prop daggers on you for picture taking?

Cabbage man.... oh man... I was going to do cabbage man then I realized no one did aang the year before and then I met a guy there last year who did Aang as well.... I was third season aang when he woke up on the air ship.... I did that funky pose with a katara with the fishy kissy face..... even though the Katara wasn't my girlfriend.... My girlfriend thought it was freakin' histerical.... LOL

that's why I love acen... weird crazy strangers want to do weird crazy poses and stuff with you, and it makes you laugh... it's a lot of fun! It's a shame it's only 3 lousy days! it needs to be more DANGNAMIT!

Hey gAangsters!

I like the idea of a photoshoot later in the afternoon on Saturday. The morning sun in the grassy areas near the hotel can be overwhelming. Also, I am being a bit selfish by asking the photoshoot be later in the afternoon because Alternatecoppa and I will indeed host an Avatar Fan Panel this year at ACEN! Acen approved our panel request and we asked to be scheduled on Saturday May 9th at 1pm. Please spread the word to all the Avatar fans you know! We asked for a 100 person capacity room and we hope to fill it so we can do the panel again in the future. I have seen some impressive Avatar fan gatherings at ACEN, so I hope to see many faces at the panel.

I do not think I will have time to cosplay, but I will have Soundtrack and Artbook request petition sheets to pass around. Some other Avatar gatherings have gathered signatures at conventions and we hope to add our Midwest supporters to the mix. Our panel is inspired by the Avatar panels we have attended in the past so we have included a cosplay competition (with prizes of course) and a short Haiku Slam. There will be 3 fan panelists to discuss the fandom and current ongoing Avatar projects, including a peak at some of the upcoming Nick Magazine Avatar comics! The three panelists are myself (Avatar_Mom), Zimmay (talented artist well known for her Avatar fanart), and Alternatecoppa (most widely recognized for his fan videos inspired by Avatar). Alternatecoppa will also debut an exclusive Puppetbender movie especially for the Anime Central audience . The panel description will be along shortly, but for now expect an hour of fan appreciation and series reverie

Aw! The Avatar panel sounds like a lot of fun! Unfortunately the Final Fantasy photoshoot (try saying that three times fast) is at the same time. ;.; If you bring the petition to the Avatar photoshoot I'll definitely sign. I adore the music and an artbook would be fantastic.
