Tape Lines Instead Of Rope

Recommend using colored tape on the floor to create a line, instead of using rope. Less of fire risk, cannot knock it over, doesn't need to be removed and redeployed constantly. This is done at Otakon.

In my opinion, tape lines would cause even more havoc. I could see cutting like no tomorrow.

Tape lines wouldn't work people already cut enough wit hrope lines.

yeah if all the pole dropping it's has to be easy to drop them on purpose

As far as the whole coral issue goes the corals are owned and set up by the Rosemont (a unionized company) so the lines are set up to the Rosemonts specifications as well as fire safety laws by the Rosemont staff and cant be changed unless Acen hires the Rosemont staff to move them, which costs time and money, lots and lots of money. so even though we wanted to change the lines around during less traffic hours we couldn't.
I could be wrong but thats what i was told over the course of the weekend (i worked IRT)

Yeah. That sounds about right.

But tape on the floors would be hard to do (all those people on their knees moving about) hard to pull up (some tape gets mucho sticky) and also, there would be no way to make sure people stood in their spot or didnt like, molest people's personal space lol.

I'll let someone else speak in more detail about this. We have thought long and hard about this issue, believe me when I say it's come up numerous times amongst staff.

I was a department head at Otakon for years, and I love their layout and space, I can only imagine what acen could do with it. Here's the thing though, despite offering to purchase special tape the hotel will not let us tape lines. And if you're talking about the RCC we're talking union issues.

We will keep fighting for it because It could honestly serve as a good form of line control, and if everyone ignores it? were no worse off than we are now :)

oh trust me - i dropped the poles like 5 or 6 times when i was in line this past year - i never heard so may people scream at something so pointless :D
