Yeag, I was sorta one of those people. I was wearing a black skirt, spider web corset, blue leggings, silver shoes, collar and leash, gloves and spiked wristband, black wig with streaks and a checkered hat.

but after I saw all the amazing J-rockers out there I felt like I had done a poor poor poor job.
That's why this year I'm focusing on doing it better. With more focus and time in a theme

gahh i hate when people do that..
if your going to be a j-rocker then be someon in particular
and i hated how i saw some girls just dressed up plain "slutty" and when u asked which anime/maga they were from
they just said they arent from anything
im like wtf? it makes it sound like they only want attention and stuff

A lot of girls did that. And the ones that did it were surprisingly fugly.

and i do give props for trying even though it did annoy me
since they were taking attention form the cosplayers, and people who actually put work into their cosplay

i think 07 had much more of a variety of costumes. i didn't see like 10-15 people in one glance in the same exact costume. i saw way to many narutards and "death note" cosplay in 08. some people actually did do it well, but puting on a white t-shirt and jeans isn't a cosplay, if it was then i "cosplayed every year a little"

i did see some really cool costumes though this year.

i think next year i really want to do something out of the box...or maybe in one...who knows.

I'm trying for popular but not done in a while cosplays for 2009

I didn't see too many outer senshi hence SAILOR PLUTO!
I want to do a YGO character but I think the cards are more unique hence DMG!
I like bleach but screw the same three people they always show up as...hence NEL RELEASED FORM!!
I like Blood+ and apparently there was only 1 Diva soooo....DIVA FINAL BATTLE!!!!

I think the only thing that I may be doing that's not too original is my J-rock

Good plan, Crimson-chan! I would love to see a truly well done Diva (especially in that outfit of hers with the blue rose and the cool hair).

Thank you for agreeing. I don't understand the whole "Let's make up a fantasy J-rock group" when there are plenty of J-rockers that would be amazing to see. When I was cosplaying as Mana-sama, many people asked where I bought my costume and when I said that I had made it, they were really impressed. It is very difficult to self-make a J-rocker's costume/outfit when you could go out and buy something and modify it from Hot Topic at any time. I take pride at being able to cosplay a J-rocker and having people know who I am and getting complements for being able to stay in character. I hope that 09 won't be overrun with Fake J-rock groups but with how many Fantasy J-rock group forums there are, I am going to be disappointed.

o.o I thought the same thing when I saw the fantasy groups. It's easy to buy odds n ends and look like a Jrocker, but to pull off some of the elaborate outfits our favorite rockstars wear...

Hmmm, I'd have to say.... I dunno, I was only there for Friday at '07, so I can't say much. And while there were a lot of Naruto and stuff, I did enjoy the really good cosplays.

Saw a few awesome ones. Hei from Darker Than Black, Kyuubi from Naruto, Dante and Nero from DMC, Saix from FF/KH Fox, Falco, and Wolf from Star Fox, Sonic, Knuckles and Tails from Sonic the Hedgehog, Dark Link, Dark Zelda, Magic Armor Link, normal Link, normal TP Zelda, and Minda from Zelda, the Yoshi's from Yoshi's Story, Mewtwo from Pokemon... there were good ones, but yes, a lot of halfassed attempts, I agree.

I was the only Oki (Okami) at the entire con.

I don't mind popular cosplays as long as they're done right. Like Naruto one's, no, a Leaf Headband and a cloak does not make you the Fourth Hokage... but if you do it really well, I'm really pleased.

I like Naruto, and Bleach, and stuff like that, but I'd like to see more minor characters from the series, and/or the costumes done better, if one can.

I'm going as Hidan from Naruto for '09. Yes Naruto is popular, but yes, I will put a lot of effort into the cosplay. Just because Naruto is popular, doesn't mean you should tell fans of the series they shouldn't cosplay as it.

Not everyone who creates a fantasy group is pulling together odds and ends. As I posted WAY above, I am not ashamed to admit that I was one of those people. And I truly feel bad for what I did. Half way through the day I just said I was dressed normally so I wasn't acting like I was something else. Afterall, my "J-rock" was merely an attempt and looked more like a normal goth wardrobe than anything else. So I do agree with the anger people feel in that respect. However, putting down people that want to do their own J-rock cosplays isn't right. There are a few people that really do put ALOT of work into what they wear. Just as much as if they were cosplaying as someone else. In fact, it might actually be harder because they are using only their mind

I was sick of seeing Naruto/Bleach/FMA/Death Note cosplayers in '08. > 3< I think that's what I mostly saw! D:

I hope to see more cosplays from more unknown series, or series that are not as popular or popular yet.
