Ok i wanted to know which year was better at acen.
this year or in 07

i personally perfer 07 since there were more cosplayers and less people just walking around with half way done cosplays and people who just lack on anything and act like its a cosplay.
and alot of the cosplays i wanted to see looked a lot better last year, and there were more :]
this year i barely saw any of my fav characters :/

well anyways what did you guys think?

I felt like last year had more elaborate costumes.... this year just kind of felt smaller cosplay-wise.

while I didn't go to 07 I was sad to see so few cosplayers this year.
I figured there'd be alot more...
though I was pleased with the ones I did see

I think 2008 cosplay deteriorated from the years before.
Nothing really grabbed my attention. If I was just browsing people, all I saw was half-hearted closet cosplay. There were a few that were very good, but it just was disappointing compaired to last year.

I say 08'...solely because of Knives' Escaflowne, the Malice Mizer group...basically all of the Masquerade people were pretty dang epic (^^)

This and the fact that memory is not a strong suit for me...and I don't remember 07' really...

I think this year was better varitey of cosplays. And their seemed to be a little less Naruto cosplayers this year.....a very very very small decrease. Kingdom Hearts cosplay was the same amount I think. *sigh* Bleach cosplayers were definetly smaller then last year. Which I prefer a lot more. I prefer having smaller more unique cosplays then hunders of the same damn show. (which sadly will proablly happen to Gurren-Laggen. *sigh*).

I saw a lot more wonderful cosplays this year then last year. Looked like a lot more people put together more elaborate and quality cosplays then last year. There was a decrease in numbers but I enjoyed this years cosplay.

This year was quality over quantity... There were VERY FEW instances where you go , "ooh... well... ya tried'n'died." The group I was in, the Metal Gear group... OH MY GOD... Absolutely amazing! Plus, well, let's just say someone from last year and I are on terrible terms with eachother... so this year, hands down!

'07. A lot of cosplays this year were just half done, or they didn't do a good job of trying to look like the person they were cosplaying.

Last year definately, probably cuz it was their 10th. This year was kinda lacking in elaborate costumes, at least from what I saw, but there was a wider variety, not just Naruto and Bleach. It seemed like not alot of people tried though. That's just me.

And I think I saw more butt than at a Victoria's Secret. Definately not attractive.

I know a few cosplayers who SHOULD have entered the Masquerade but didn't-- I felt their cosplays were awesome along with so many others this year. I was glad to see not too many overdone cosplays, so my vote goes for ACen 2008.

I was expecting to see more ultimate cosplays on Saturday then I did this year. Usually there are some mega mechs or insanely well made costumes, and this year seemed to lack. Not to discredit everyone who did put a lot of effort into their costumes, because the ones that did were truly amazing. I just felt like I didn't see as many as last year. :)

I have to say that I liked the cosplay in '07 better, but '08's liveliness was better. As in, people seemed more engaged and energetic this year than last, not to mention that the masquerade this year was FREE. And I got into it! xD

But honestly, any con is fun, particularly when you have cosplay involved.

I liked the cosplays last year better. There were only a small handful this year that REALLY grabbed my attention enough to make me want to try and fiddle with my camera and try to take a picture ^^* Granted, I was stuck in Artist Alley most of the weekend, but even when I took breaks to go to cosplay shoots or after hours even, there were a lot more/better cosplays last year than this. There was a lot more variety last year too, lots of varying series and not 50% Naruto and Death Note like this year. -.-

Haha, was that your cosplay? I saw a couple pictures of you in other people's albums. Pretty cool hair! I was glad there were Shaman King cosplayers out there, hehe. I missed a few others for pictures too, and I'm sorry, but I'll definitely be on the look out next year.

That's praoblly just your luck then. Cuz while Death Note had a little increase in numbers, there was not that many. And Naruto will proablly always be around everywhere. yes there was a decrease in the naruto and bleach cosplay
but there was a HUGE increase in the J rock people...
not that i have anything against it... but there were people who just slacked on anything and were walking around claming to be there own j rock original... it was annyoing.. some of them were excellent other just fail... >.>
and they took the alot of the attention away from cospplayers..
And it was a bit harder to know who was actually cosplaying and who wasn't.
:/ and those L cosplays annoyed me.. i saw to many and they failed... only one or two i saw didnt..
L has black spikey hair.. not brown shaggy hair >.>

2007 for me was more exciting costume-wise. I saw a few well done cosplays here and there this year, but not as many as I would have liked. I agree, there was a TON of closet cosplay, and the whole mix two anime/manga together cosplays. Still, I enjoyed this year as it was my first masquerade and I was excited for that; plus I met a lot of really awesome people this year. When it comes to cosplay though, 2007.

This year it seemed like way too many Death Note role-plays. But, I have to say that someone did floor me with their Shadow of the Colossus boss outfit. XD

I think that Acen 07 had somethings that 08 didn't have and the opposite is true as well. The person who brought up the "original" jrockers, I cosplayed this year as Mana-sama from Malice Mizer and I did see that there were a lot of people who did dress up in leather, got a couple of piercing clips, and drew tatoos on their arms but when I asked them who they were cosplaying as they just said, "oh, I'm not cosplaying as anyone in particular, I'm just being a jrocker." It kinda ticked me off because they weren't being jrockers then, they were just dressing up and trying to act like a rockstar.
Cosplay:

2008 - Mana (Malice Mizer)
2009 - Gardenia Mana (Malice Mizer), Selphie (FF8)
