Yeah, it should be. As long as it's 4 feet or less you should be good. If it's larger than that then make it in two pieces and connect it together for pics only.

“Live steel” means any object crafted from any metal with a pointed end or blade-like edge, blunt or sharp.
No Blade Looking Devices Made Of Metal Period.
Wood with metallic paint would be the best choice in my opinion. Krylon makes a great metallic finishes.
Traditional
Brushed Metal Look
Hammered Look
Anodized Look
Super Reflective
Hope this helps.

ACEN 08 Rules said:
Nerf guns, water guns, Airsoft™ guns/rifles and similar projectile weapons are allowed if never loaded. By Illinois state law, any replica firearms must have an orange tip to identify them as such. The weapon must also be devoid of any ammunition and/or clip. You may not carry projectiles of any kind on your person. Water guns may be carried to and from the pool area. If you are waving your props around, handling them in an unsafe manner, or firing them, they will be confiscated and tagged. Return of the item will depend on the seriousness of the offense.
Please read the rules before asking such questions :o
