I do not have any cosplays that involves a character in a videogame, but do you think Naruto counts since he's also in a videogame? If not, then that would mean I can't be a part of the gathering.

Nah, he said earlier that the character has to originate from a video game. If it is an anime/manga chara that was made into a game, it's a no-go.

No Naruto doesn't count because it was anime before it was a video game...It has to be from a video game before it was made into an anime...

the only ones i thought we weren't clear on was digimon, .hack, i believe for pokemon and monster rancher, it was said no character made souly for the show only video game one...yes to nurse joy and prof. oak, or blue or misty, or etc...no to kid on rollerblade and brock or ash or jesse and james (pokemon yellow doesn't count) etc. and etc...

.hack may work, just so long as it's a character ONLY from a video game. The video game is the main media, anyway, because .hack//Sign was serving as a prologue. As for Digimon...that is a hard one... No characters from the show, but if someone somehow made a costume of one of Digimon themselves...maybe?

Though Brock would count in the games - he appeared as the Pewter City Gym Leader in Red and Blue (and Green) version before he was in the anime, remember?

May would be an exception... cause I'm pretty sure that May's character model was the same model for the girls in-game character in Ruby/Sapphire. And I also think that Pokemon R/S came out before her anime debut???? (I could be very wrong on that one, cause I forgot about the japan side of pokemon... DOH!)

If you are just looking for characters which where in Video Games, the following .hack// characters would be considered 'okay'

Project .hack

All //IMOQ main characters and supporting characters, as well as 'minor' characters (Kite, Blackrose, Mistral, Elk, Helba, Lios, etc)

All //Sign cameo characters (they were in IMOQ as wandering AIs or memory fragments)... Tsukasa, Subaru, Mimiru, Crim, Bear, Sora, BT, A-20

.hack Conglomerate

All //GU main characters, supporting, and minor characters (Haseo, Shino, Atoli, Kuhn, Ovan, etc)

//Fragment allowed you to choose about 6 character models of each of the original 6 classes of the //IMOQ era, and recolor them in 5 colors (may be wrong on the number). So... technically speaking, all those would be acceptable as well.

It's sad to announce... I just got word on what happen at AKon.. the final count from what I heard is... 697.... ****!!!

I got two options..

#1. Don't bother doing it next year..
#2. Gotta find a way in getting that number....

I'd suggest trying to really spread the word around - on other convention forums, other forums in general, LJ groups, etc. Set the date/time for the gathering right now or very soon and start spreading the word. Then spread it again come closer to May of '09.
Anyone that has Livejournals, Myspaces, Facebooks, etc., make posts in them now and closer to the convention too!
I wish I'd know about this last year, me and my two friends did Ace Attorney costumes one day :/

Totally agreeing that this would help out.
A more noticeable spot would be great too cuz this year I wandered around a bit beforehand trying to find it and was confused and then gave up... >> Then again I'm navigationally challenged.

I'll have A.B.A again next year though I'd love to wear Patchouli to this if Touhou counts...
