Not sure about at-con reg, but I'm guessing that you'll have to have your real name on it...

Not sure about the fan art question though... though if you are going to the guest meet and greet, that would probably be a good time to give out your fan art... or if you get to a panel early, that is also a good time to chat with guests...

Hope that helps a little!
:sweatdrop

When does this guest meet and greet usually occur. Or should I say, when will it occur this year?

Okay, ACen is possibly going to be the first con I'll be going to. My sole purpose is to meet up with a few friends of mine, and I'm just about completely clueless about a few things. I'm flying in from Florida, and I'd like to know if it'll cost me an arm and a leg just to stay for three days to attend. :

Considering it'll be my first time ever going to any form of an anime convention (or even traveling out of state), what are the main things I will have to pay for to go and how much would it cost?

I look at the site for Registration and the only thing it talks about is online Pre-Registration (which I understand is closed). Is there any way to register up front once there?

Sorry if any of these questions sound stupid. I feel stupid for just asking them. x-x; I wanna be sure I know what I'm doing and have enough money to make it for three days without going broke just to get there in one day.

Go the the reg. section of the forums, and there will be a thread that tells you when reg. opens every morning...

The first day, when you reg, get there early so you don't have to wait in line for 3 hours.

Otherwise, look at the schedule (there is a link on the front of the main page) to see what you are going to want to do.

That's up to you... if you feel comfortable enough riding/driving in your costume, you can come with it on... Otherwise you could change in the bathroom or hotel room

Hey everyone! Me and my friend are first-time-con-goers and we have a couple (more like a lot) of questions ^^

1. Okay so me and my friend had some hard times with transportation and my grandfather is the only one who could drive us, although I feel rather bad having to make him take us. If anyone who lives in the southeastern wisconsin area (preferably Waukesha/Milwaukee county areas *points to location*) is going and would be be able to take us that would GREATLY appriciated. Don't worry it is just two people. However, due to strict parents, we'd have to at least get in some sort of contact with the person who would be driving us (otherwise it is prefectly fine) before hand (just to know we're not driving with a mass murderer  ) We were also only planning to go for Saturday because that was the only time my gramps could take us. We are not pre-regged either. E-mail me at SSCherryBlossom@netscape.net if this could work for you.

2. Yeah, okay so my cosplay costume is rather *cough* heavy for me. You see, I'm going as Shuichi from Gravitation but I'm in his 'suitcase' costume (meaning I'm Shuichi in his suitcase) and I MADE IT ENTIRELY BY HAND! *raises fist triumphantly* Anyway, I made it out of a cardboard box (not very big, it just fits my upper torso) but it IS rather heavy. This would be another reason I would enjoy someone with a car at the con (my grandfather would just leave us there and then pick us up) that way if I get too tired having to lug it around, I could store it somewhere. I really don't want to put this somewhere hidden around the con or anything cuz I WORKED ON IT FOR SEVEN FRICKEN HOURS!! *calms down* :sweatdrop Any advice for this type of situation?

3. (I know there's a lot) About how early should I get there Sat morning for the con-reg? (not pre-regged and I've heard the lines could be like 3 hours long  ) And also people keep mentioning that they stay at the con to late hours but the times it stays open aren't very late (from what I've seen on the site). Is there some place that just stay open longer or something???

That's it for now, but just wait and see me remember something important I forgot to add in about 10 mins....

Is your costume just for the masquerade?? If you are going to walk around the hallways at all with it on, make sure it follows the rules.

Otherwise, if you don't have a car or a room, you will probably just have to lug it around.

You can find the rules in the masq./cosplay section of the forum.

As for regging on Saturday, get there very early.. Earlier than it even opens if at all possible, because Saturday is the busiest day, especially for one day passes... If you don't get there early, it has happened in the past that the at-con reg lines were 3-4 hours long.

The con has stuff going on 24/3... during the overnight hours, it's mostly the video rooms that are open.

If you want more information, there is a link to the live programming schedule on the main Acen page.

Hope that helps!

Well, the convention center, where reg is happening, might not be open that early... otherwise, if you don't mind waiting around for that long, it should be fine.

My friend is leaving from the con to come pick me up on Saturday and bring me there. He said he is leaving around 12:00, so He'll probably be here around 1:00-ish, and by the time we get back to the con, I'm assuming it will be about... 1:45-2:00-ish??

but anyways, would the lines for at-con registration be long around that time? Because That's about what time I'll be getting there at, and I don't know any of this stuff, because it's my first ACen ^_^

And I'd get one of those uber-cool badges too even if I register at-con on Saturday?

Thanks much <3

Nvm...I got this stuff's figured out. =) I'm leaving in about 3 hours, so I hope to see some people there! I'll be wearing a navy blue skirt with pink zippers on it, a Tinkerbell shirt, and a red and black Hello Kitty purse =)

never saw anything about a certain age you had to be to attend acen, why not just go b/c you want to? i have seen everything from rather young children about 2 years old (With parental supervision) to 40-50 year olds (maybe higher?). if anything just go to the convention and have fun. ^_^

I agree, there is no 'right age'... Our group ranged in age from 7 months to 29 years old...

Though, I think I'm getting a little old for Acen, because there seems to be too many immature younger people, who made this year's con experience the worst that I've ever had...

how is the A-cen convention? I really want to go, because It is the closest one to me and I've never been before so it would be a neat experience. What's cos playing like? Do you have to cosplay when you're there? How much time and money does one generally spend making a good cos play costume? I'm so full of questions. Sorry there's so many. I just want to convince my parents how much I want to go.

You don't have to cosplay, but it's fun... If you just do hallway cosplay, you will get asked for your picture a lot, and some people might want to hug you...

And the cost depends on a few things... what the costume is, if you are making it yourself... I usually spend about $50 to $60 on each of my costumes... but my best friend handmakes them for me...

If you buy it online or from eBay, you will be paying at least $100...

If you have more questions about the con, just pm me.

I need ACEN pics for My picture/comic book "Newski's Summer Vacation" where I use pictures of places I have been in the summer and do an overview, but it is not me explaining it is my comic Alter Ego "Newski The Hippie" edited in via Photoshop.

Involved in Newski's Summer Vacation is ACEN, Tromathon, GFEST 11, and an Alice Cooper Concert. Its a humorous guide to my summer as told by a cheesey little sketch.

What I need from ACEN: The Excel Saga Panel, A few of Matt Greenfield, And Dealers room Crowds. And Maybe if there is a line Heading into the Hentai Room or Anime Hell and Midnight Madness, I could work with those, too.

Knowing how security works - having been an op - you'd probably be chastized and have your name recorded if something happens again. Now, if you know who was trying to steal your stuff, well, I feel sorry for him (or her - this is the '00s) once SecDiv finds them.
