As long as it doesn't deviate too far from the original design, it's fine! That sounds acceptable to me.

What about cases like mine where my original design changes between games and even within the games?

Like Yuna in FFX and FFX-2? Or like when a character has different costume designs for sequels of the same game, like Voldo in Soul Caliber?

That's what it sounds like anyway...

Any chance I can get a rough idea of long it would take to enter? Is it just a quick fill out a form, have a judge look over your costume, and you're sent on your way? I'm going to be in the Alley most of the time, so I want a rough idea of how much of a window to request from my table mates... ;)

Yup, that's it. It really all depends on how long the line is. Since it's a first year, i can't really tell you how that is going to be, but the process once you get up to the table is pretty quick.

you have to make it or the person that makes it has to be with you when it is shown off. You cant be judged on something you didnt make it defeats the purpose of the competition.

Also i was wondering since it came up about my prop. I can still enter if my prop doesnt break the four foot rule right? Because mine breaks into a two foot and four foot section.

If it breaks down and is IRT compliant, then yes, you may compete with it.

Answered in the other thread.

I'd like to enter in the Hallway since I don't want to wear the costume I'd like to enter on Saturday and I have other stuff planned during the masquerade, so if by chance I won, I'm not sure how I'd get it. I'm not sure what other thread you're referring to though.

Ou, sounds fun. Question though (as if you haven't gotten enough)

I'm cosplaying as an undead aerith from the FF7 series. The costume is a basic aerith costume, but torn up with blood splatters, as well as makeup to seem zombified. Would this count, or is it considered too much of an original design?

That's fine. since it is the original dress just slightly modified, you can compete with it.

*raises hand* Question! Would a character from NiGHTS into Dreams be allowed in? I mean, the game was made by Sega and is of Japanese origin, and the human characters do have an anime influence in their design (Though I'm not cosplaying one of the human characters...)

Ok, Most of my costume was either store bougth clothing (skirt/white dress shirt/boots) However, the things on the costuem that are made and the wig styleing are done by me. However, I will also have a gun holster and arm band made by a fellow cosplayer in my group. Am I still allowed to enter or would she also have to be there as part of it would be her work?
Cosplays for 2011:
Planned:
Baiken - Guilty Gear(maybe)
Jessica - Umineko
Luka "Magnet" - Vocaloid

Would collapsible wings break the 4'/6" rule? They fold into my back so that they stand no more then 5" from my sides and 4" from my back, but unfolded(using hinges), they come out a bit farther(maybe a foot-14"). They aren't on a spring or pulley system, they just manually fold out so I can have them open for photoshoots.

I'm not an official, but your wings would be alright being foldable. Anything collapsable, foldable, or comes in parts is all good, as long as the collapsed versions fit in the size rules.

Though, make SURE you fold those wings every time you start walking, and do people a favor and take pictures along a wall and not in the middle of hallways :D And you shouldn't have any issues that
Covered in duct tape for the sake of cosplay.

As for making your own costume as opposed to modified, as long as it's not purchased from a seller, you can enter it if it has been modified.

The shirt, pants, and boots for my costume have all been bought or found at stores, but have been modified and added to. Is that accepted?

If i were to cosplay as a character from a Manga, that dressed up as a Gothic Lolita in the Manga would it be acceptable if i cosplayed as the character in the gothic lolita outfit...?
Ex. Yaya from Othello.
( yes the manga is Japanese related- Written by someone who is Japanese and published by tokyopop)

Oooo!!! I want to participate!

I want to cosplay as Haku from Miyazaki's Spirited Away. But I wanted to do an anthro (please no one steal my idea!) version of his dragon form. Like I'd wear his clothing, but I'd have a tail, ears, horns, hair/mane, etc. like his dragon form. Both designs come straight from the movie, but I'm melding them together... could I still enter?
