OK, when I reserve, it's giving me the option for king only, but I need a 2-queen. Is there any way to change that online, or should I call the hotel?

I had much the same issue, so I decided to call instead of using the internet option. The person I talked to on the phone said that king was the only room type available. This seems like it might be some type of mistake considering the block just opened today, but then again you never know....

We are working on this issue and waiting on an answer from the hotel.

Called up the hotel to reserve a room and was told the block was full. Did mention Maps, and ACEN. Apparently it's called Anime Central in their computers. So I reserved a room outside the block. A double the first night, a king the next two nights. The staff person was very nice and helpful and answered all my questions and such. But it wasn't allowing a reservation in the block. So while I have a room, or two. :\ I will be calling in the near future to see if there's some snafu with their computers not letting in block reservations. Hopefully will be able to correct it and get one room for all the nights.

Any information/help is appreciated on the topic.

Just to make sure: If I reserved a hotel room at the $127/night after mentioning Anime Central I'll still have the room and just be charged $139/night, right?

So a bit off the wall kind of question here. Orginally my group was looking at the Embassy as our first pick. I just got off the phone with a lady named Robin there at the hotel and she said that the con is doing there own reservations and i was to contact you guys about setting up reservations for the Embassy. Who/how would we go about doing this?

We are still working on overflow properties and we couldn't go in to finish negotiations with them until we finished with the Hyatt first.

We should have something up and ready very soon. The biggest issue is trying to get the best rate for you guys.

When we have something to work with, we'll post.

Called this morning and got things fixed. Got my 1 room for all three nights. Thurs through Sun. King bed. So all is well. I'll worry about requesting certain things once I get there like I did last year.

The Hyatt is telling me that all suites within the block have been booked for some time and I am unable to even book a double bed room as only King bed rooms are left (or so I've been told). Why is this a problem every year? I always wait for the official announcement and every year the Hyatt gives out the rooms in the block for a month or two in advance but Acen staff says not to book.

I'll try again later but if this info is accurate I guess Im not going to Acen this year

and what about the Deluxe suites?
The web site lists them as:

DELUXE $397.50/night+tax

But when I call the reserve the suite' I've had for the past few years I get

- It's sold out
- The convention hasn't negotaited a rate on those
- They negotiated a rate but not on all 4 suites
- Thier not eligible for the convention discount
- Everything is sold out except the King Bedrooms

each person gives me conflicting answers...now I have the suite reserved...but should it be covered under the Con rate?

I managed to reserve my Double. BUT, when I did reserve I was told I would be moved into a single king on my last night there *saturday*. I checked my status online. And now it says that I will be moved to another double. >:I Ok, fine that will be awesome if I DO indeed get that. But what I'm wondering is why if we are still getting another Double do we have to move at all? Can't we keep our room, and they get the one we would have had?

I've tried several times to talk with the Hyatt staff about it. But they just keep telling me I should be glad I managed to get a room at all Saturday and aren't really being very helpful. I'm not sure exactly what you can do, but any bit of help would be nice.

question!
when you reserve a room, do they charge your credit card right away or how does it work?

They shouldnt charge the card right away. Although sometime in April they do charge you for the first nights stay as a deposit.

The firsts night deposit may also not appear on your April credit card statement. Mine wasn't charged until May last year, but I'm sure that if you back out they will bill the credit card immediately.

Ok, will you be charged for the first night right away or later on?

Also, I tried to get a room online and it would only work if I was staying friday-sunday night because it said the con rate didn't apply to thursday... any reason for this, or is there some trick to getting it to work?

In the past years, con rates apply on Thursday. Call Hyatt, talk to a person.

i reserved my room today, the lady said only king bed was available..I'm really pissed at the people that did that "panic reservation" deal.

ruined things for people that listen to maps/acen staff.

I hope i end up w/ a double bed set though..i can't do king w/ 1 friend and rest strangers.

Well, sadly, the 300 people who jumped the gun have kinda made things very messy this year -_-

Both my group I'm heading and friends I've talked to, waited to have the official go-ahead announcement and basically, we both got screwed for rooms as well...

With just my group alone, we planned on coming Thurs. nite and leaving Sun. morning, so 3 nite stay. 8-9 people meant 2 rooms were necessary. I called on the 28th (nearly the 29th, night owl tendencies ^.~) talked to a sleepy guy and was told they were booked. I checked ACEN's main page, didn't see anything about it being full and so I was like...crap...that's fantastic, we should have jumped to do the same as the other 300.

One of my friends called me last nite and told me they managed to get one room for Fri. nite only by going through the online registration. So I called the Hyatt this morning and managed to get one room for Thurs. nite and Fri. nite, then was told that was the last room available -_- I tried the online registration and get one room for Fri. nite. Called Hyatt again and confirmed that the online reservation was valid.

So....my group of 8-9 has one room Thurs. nite, 2 rooms Fri. nite, no rooms Sat.

Thanks to those who jumped the gun...I have a headache now ~_~

EDIT: I've been reading other ppl's problem posts and I'm beginning to agree that Hyatt has screwed up royally, but then, what IS their convention reservation policy? Is it normal for them to shove 300 ppl into a block of rooms before the block is open? It makes me feel punished for waiting until the official announcement T-T

I've seen stuff about extra rooms being added in other threads. Is that just a foolish dreamer's rumor, or is it a possibility?

I dunno what'll happen. but not getting a double will put a real damper on my weekend. I just hope someone in the hotel drops out..whether it's in our block of rooms or not...cause obviously that didn't matter to the hyatt , shouldn't matter to me.

Any ideas on a timeline for overflow hotels? After our customer service problems with the Hyatt last year, we opted to stay elsewhere (which is good from the sounds of it, with the room shortages and whatnot) and I'm hoping I'm not going to have to log on everyday, but it looks like I might.
