Alright people, its time for another meetup, I have decided that we should visit the Museum of Science and Industry on January 26, a saturday. Why should we go to the Museum, because its FREE, there is no charge for admission. You can't beat that price, meetup time will be between 10 and 10:30 AM. The Museum has a cafeteria inside, so unless someone else wants to go to a restrauant, we can just eat there. If anyone wants my phone number message me and I'll send it to you, or if you have any suggests, feel free to post them. I'll see everyone in a couple of weeks.

I forgot to mention this in the opening post, but its cosplay optional, everyone should know that my meetups are always cosplay optional. I'll at least wear my cat ears maybe kittie Gaara if the weather is nice.

Oh! Sounds very tempting! Though I highly highly doubt my parents would let me go downtown alone. Though I could try and see if some of my other friends want to come... damn. *has the feeling they couldn't come* I'm sure that I could get off quite easily, its just the problem of being there with "nobody I can trust" as my dad puts it.

If anybody feels like convincing him, go right ahead. I'd love to go to this meetup, the Shedd was total hilarity and I'd love to see the exhibits the museum has.

Good point. There's a couple entrances to the museum. It's been a while since I was there but I know there's a big ticketing booth/entrance where you come in from the parking garage by the Zephyr, and then there's another entrance at the Omnimax end where all the spaceships are (my FAVORITE for obvious reasons Apollo 8 = <3 ), and I think there might be another one on the first floor somewhere.

I'd say let's meet up at the Zephyr. Those who are driving will be coming in there (I do recommend parking in that garage, it's lovely and well kept IMO), those who aren't, I think can find the Zephyr fairly easily. It's big and silver! Plus there's a pretty good amount of room there and some seating.

I know its early, but this way we have the option of walking to a couple of stores in Chicago. I know that I want to go to the FYE.

but the think is we can't go see the star wars exbitit its not free on free day it still cost 20 dollars for chicago residents and 21 for non chicago residents.
i really want to go see start wars. i think we should.

I checked the Museum website, I think the star wars Exhibit is over. It seems that the exhibit only ran through January 6.

But there's lots of other super awesome stuffs there!!!! I never ever ever EVER get sick of drooling over the spaceships.... (so if y'all loose me...just check by the Apollo 8 module

There's the Zephyr, walking on that is pretty cool! Lesee...aw the airplane (Flight 727) is closed and so is the coal mine (not that I am EVER going in that mine again....), the model railroad is really cool...ooo I think the submarine should be open again (it was still in the process of being lowered downstairs last time I was there), ooo oo and we should totally try and sneak some pictures in Yesterdays Main Street!! That is the coolest photo backdrop!!

Ooh yes U-505 is reopened! It's $5 for the onboard tour, beyond general admission. Worth it!!! I have been on that tour before and it's really cool, if a bit claustrophobic. I wanna see how it looks now that they've cleaned it up and moved it inside!

Omnimax is $6 it looks like, they're showing a movie on mummies and one on sea creatures.

FYI parking is $12 but, the nice thing is, it's inside and very close (right around the Zephyr) so it's not bad for convenience sake.


I am so looking forward to this....thinking about this meetup is the biggest thing getting me though the hell at work right now (next Wed is inventory...ugh). My favorite museum with my favorite people, total win!

I'd love to go on the U505. I've been on it before, though not since the restoration and move, and I'd love to go again!

A warning though, if you're claustrophobic you might not want to go on board. The on board tour is optional and costs $5.

There is also an exhibit on African Americans in cinema and television. According to the website, you can also "explore real sets, cut soundtracks and create your own movie script, storyboard and animation".

Unfortunately, I won't be coming to this meetup, since I will be away at college starting tomorrow (and until March 14).
