it's up to you. Arakhne volunteered her friend for the panel as honey, but i have no definite info about that. as you can see, Arakhne herself is on back-up.
honey can be a little tough, personality- and appearance-wise. if your costume is perfect, usually it's fine to look cute and innocent, but in an hour-long panel, that sort of attitude fades into the background. you have to be talkative, too. (but i'm not expecting perfection from anyone! i just want everyone to be comfortable.) the number one advice is be as familiar with the character as possible. i'm a first-timer at panels, and i've only been on-stage once before. the con stages are MUCH less intimidating than that one (they're only a couple feet or so off the ground, from what i've seen). also, usually the issue with honey-cosplay is the height and/or the hair/wig. i'm afraid i'm a bit pushy about that when it comes to honey, because last year i mistook a LOT of honey-cosplayers for tamaki-cosplayers. oops! i felt really embarrassed.
for cosplaying (role-playing) in general: try practicing with some friends. just do random, everyday stuff and try to react to things as the character would. it can be embarrassing to all be acting unlike yourselves, but it's good practice for improvisation. doing it in costume or at night when you're sleepy sometimes helps. do it until you don't giggle (uncharacteristically, in the case of honey) anymore. trust me, you'll giggle.
if you think you might be up to it, but you aren't quite sure, i can always put you in the back-up position (meaning that you'll only have to go on if no one else volunteers), and you can back out anytime. be aware that i'd like to have people's cell phone numbers eventually so i can make sure everyone finds the correct room for the panel on time. PM or e-mail me if you want to be on the list.

the main slot for kyouya is still open! the main slots of honey and mori are now filled! but don't worry! you can still back-up for honey or the hitachiin brothers (but i ask that you are a pair, so you know you look alike), or come as another side character!

You mean you're going to be wearing the yellow dresses as random Ouran students? Exciting!! I was hoping there'd be cosplayers like that. XD
I think I'm going to start pimping the panel in my signature. xD

You can still come without being in an Ouran costume! Although if you wanted to make an Ouran uniform, then that's fun too. But don't feel obligated to have an Ouran uniform, because this is open to anyone.

It would be fun to come in the girls ouran uniform, but really I don't think I have time to do it with my other cosplays. We'll see if I can think of anything else more formalish and less work though.

i actually went to a panel similar to this at metrocon and that's why i decided to do this! it was a lot of fun, but of course there were things i wanted to do a little differently... *mwahaha* actually, the main thing was i wanted it to be more like a real club meeting and the one at metrocon had about half interview and half trivia. i do have some trivia in case there is too much time, though. i'm glad everyone seems to be looking forward to it! i'm just as excited as you guys are!

And divine_fanaticy, if you want I'll donate a handfull of my hand-drawn Ouran bookmarks to give to the cosplayers that are making this possible. Here's a link to two of the eight bookmarks I've done: http://akane-no-hime.deviantart.com/art/Ou...nimals-55360375 and http://akane-no-hime.deviantart.com/art/Ou...-Group-55360399 .
PM me if you would like me to donate some! This is such a cool idea, I feel like I have to support it somehow!

it was veeery funny. there was a lot of improv-ish stuff, particularly involving the twins. they were not very respectful toward tamaki and haruhi (repeatedly holding a sign pointing to tamaki as a homo, which was recieved by the audience as uproariously funny), however, and they didn't seem to know how to respond (i later learned that tamaki and haruhi were actually boyfriend and girlfriend, and of course avid tamaharu supporters. haruhi was livid). i consider the improv the strong point and the disrespect something that might be resolved by setting some requirements for the cosplayers, like being open to every pairing, as is stated in the first post. also, the twins really did not resemble the twins or one another, so that leads to another requirement in the first post. i would cut them some slack, though, because metrocon is rather tiny compared to acen, to my surprise. again, the real strength was the acting.

Ahh, well that does sound like it was entertaining. ^^ That sucks about the disrespecting though...I support Haruhi and Tamaki as a couple too but I also think it would be good if they had been open to other pairings, if nothing else, just for the sake of the panel. lol I think if everyone in our group can be flexible about it, it'll go a lot better. That's really cool that the acting was all good and stuff! I hope we can do just as good of a job, if not better. I'm not in theater, but I'll try my best!
AkaneNoHime: Those are SO cute!! I can't even figure out which one of those two I think is cuter. XD I just might have to check out your table when I get the chance.

i agree. i think it's important to be open and appeal to the audiance. that way, everyone has fun, and it's not like you get left out and aggravated. if you get upset, then you'll also give a poor performance. i'm also not in theater, but i enjoy it. =3 i do online role-playing a bit and i also write fanfiction some, and that helps amazingly.

Aww, thanks guys! I was thinking I'd donate one of each character so that the cosplayers can have a little something with their character on it (like the Kyoya cosplayer getting the Kyoya bookmark, etc.), and then maybe one each of the two I posted before to divine_fanaticy for organizing this awesome event. Sound good?
So here are the Host Club bookmarks I'll donate:
1) Kyoya Bookmark: http://akane-no-hime.deviantart.com/art/Ou...-Kouya-55359989
2) Tamaki Bookmark: http://akane-no-hime.deviantart.com/art/Ou...Tamaki-55360274
3) Haruhi Bookmark: http://akane-no-hime.deviantart.com/art/Ou...Haruhi-55359884
4) Hunny Bookmark: http://akane-no-hime.deviantart.com/art/Ou...sukini-55360079
5) Mori Bookmark: http://akane-no-hime.deviantart.com/art/Ou...b-Mori-55360211
6) Hitachin Bros Bookmark: http://akane-no-hime.deviantart.com/art/Ou...hin-Br-55359930
7) Whole Ouran Host Club: http://akane-no-hime.deviantart.com/art/Ou...-Group-55360399
8) Host Club Stuffed Animals: http://akane-no-hime.deviantart.com/art/Ou...nimals-55360375
Otherwise, all the bookmarks at my Artist Alley table are only $3 a pop, so it's an inexpensive way to get artwork with Ouran characters. I'm also going to be doing some stamps (like rubber stamps that say "Beni Bara" etc.), and I'm making a wooden sign that says "Third Music Room" in kanji on it. The stamps will be inexpensive, and I think the sign will be around $20/$25 or so. I would just ask that if people ask where the bookmarks came from that you guys could refer them over to my booth...that way we can both spread the love! I'll certainly be plugging your panel at my booth!
I'm also thinking of doing a Kasanoda, Nekozawa, Renge, and even a generic female in Ouran-yellow-dress-school-uniform bookmark...are people interested in me doing those, or more/different characters from the series? If so, please PM me to let me know! I want to make sure I have enough characters and enough bookmarks for everyone!
Smiles, and LONG LIVE OURAN!
