(Sorry, I have my band together, so there are no more spaces available... but thanks for your interest!)
This is something that a few people on the forums encouraged me to do since I'm cosplaying an original fantasy jrocker already; since it's a fairly good idea, I decided to go for it!

So here's the story: the name of the band is "Lullaby Dementia" (Since the whole concept came from a kind of weird dream, I just kept the name intact ^^; ). The fans call the band "LalaDei" for short.

The name of the band is written out as "Lullaby" written in romaji and the kanji for "trance/ecstasy" (I wanted to use the kanji for "dementia", but it also translates to "senility" or "senile dementia"! XD). I used the kanji "忘我" because I like the meaning of the two individual characters (to forget one's self/ego). I'm finally done with the font, so all that is left is to do the logo for the member armbands .

Each person who joins my band will be considered an "eternal member of LalaDei" and will receive an armband, so even if we never do this again, we'll have something to remember that we were in a band together!! I'm sentimental like that... I'm also designing buttons and/or stickers for us to give out to our "fans".

I originally envisioned LalaDei as all male (but that's because I'm partial to androgynous males). I'd also accept one (but just one) androgynous female though, but since it's a visual kei band, I want to do the elegant gender-bender thing.

You don't have to be able to perfectly pull off the androgynous thing either, we're not actual jrockers, we're just cosplaying them! Don't worry if you can't hide [this part] or whatever. Do your best!

I really only want serious takers, and I don't care where you're from, as long as we can all meet up on the same day and time at ACen. I'm watching the threads for the jrock meetup (if there is one next year) so that "same day and time" will coincide with then.

We can't walk around looking like someone grabbed a member each of Laruku, M10M, PuraTuri, PLC, and AnCafe and roped them all together now, can we? (Wow... THAT'D be a pretty motley crew XD)

Wow, who knew this would draw so much interest?!?

We won't be doing a concert, so you can pick whichever--no one has to actually be able to play an actual instrument (shoot, my guitar skills are negatory, honestly) or even own one--it's all strictly cosplay.

The only requirements are that you for the most part provide your own cosplay--even if I design it for you, you have to make it (although I'll help you if you live close enough to me) or get it commissioned, and that we all look like we're in the same band.

We're doing this like a magazine or PV photoshoot. We don't even have to carry around instruments, they're optional (my guitar won't even be real).

If you want to be the drummer, you can carry around drumsticks to illustrate that point, or you can just tell people you're the drummer (I'm pretty sure most drummers/people cosplaying as drummers don't carry around their entire kits anyway! ).

If there's a jrock cosplay photoshoot, I'll try to make it for that day, but since those usually get organized at the verylastsecond from my experience, I probably won't know which day until early 2008 (although it's usually Saturday).

Wow... I have gotten an overwhelming level of interest in this band! I'm so touched,... really... ::sniffle:: Thanks, all of you! The cosplay submissions are really fantastic, too... <3

I was perusing over my jrock/visual kei magazines for interesting and jrock-y kanji fonts that I could use for the logo (of which there are precious few that strike me as interesting--I guess I'll have to make up my own...)

...and I noticed that as well as 4-man and 5-man groups, some groups actually have 6 members (also known as--a mob! XD)! Sooo...

I have added another (possible or alternate) spot for those who are not interested in being a guitarist! (Yayz!)

The new possible opening is a synth/keyboardist (I updated the first post to reflect this.)

Once again, musical talents and instruments are optional (since I don't plan on us performing), so if you don't have/can't play a synth/keyboard that is perfectly OK.

Cool, if (hopefully) I'll have the buttons made up, and I'll give you one.

UPDATE!! (yay!)

1. I got a possible hookup on getting buttons made (as long as I buy the supplies).
2. I tweaked the kanji based on a font called "Dreamscar". Looks really cool, but unfortunately (due to my abject refusal to sleep this weekend) I have hit a creativity block, so the logo is not quite finished yet.

I'll post the link a little bit later after I get some sleep.

That font looks pretty sweet. Don't rush yourself or anything, and remember sleep is always good. The best ideas come when you're not thinking about them at all.

This sounds really really cool and I'd love to do it with you but my cosplay schedule is totally filled for ACen 2008 because I have a big group planned, so it will take up my whole time. You should keep me in mind for ACen 2009? X_X I'll look out for your group, though.

OK, I'm still making tweaks, but for the most part, this is how the kanji turned out (not the logo, just the kanji). I included the original version of the kanji for reference:

Lullaby (komori-uta) I don't plan on using it in the logo, but I like how it turned out (still needs minor tweaking though), and I'll likely use it somewhere...

Dementia (heh... I can't remember the romaji for this! ^^; )--This is the one that's going in the logo.


Now this was my absolute first time doing something like this, so I may have decorated it to the point where it's not readable. Any advice is definitely welcome.
