i dont think that would be a good idea cuz i don't think anyone wants to pay extra to get into the party unless i hear otherwise from people.

On a personal level I have a problem with this, not only due to the problem when we get into money changing hands, but how it is unfair to people who wait in line.

Last year's problem was with the fire marshall as stated before. He cut our attendance cap pretty drastically IMO inside of MP and was very serious about enforcing. He was in there several times himself to verify we were following his orders; he was not joking about shutting us down. The line was unfortunately long, and I do apologize for that (I know because I kept coming outside to count the line....which was a challenge all in itself.)

Hopefully this year there won't be such a problem. :)

Though it's a nifty idea, I don't think a lot of people(myself included) would want to pay to get in to something you can get into free anyways.

Not only that, having a VIP line would probably anger other people.

I am happy my stamping idea is being considered. I am mainly glad because the fact there are people who can't help but leave for a moment. And I think they should be allowed back in.

I hope things work out smoothly this year and I hope I can stay in the line this year as well. 8D

Once again, we have a fire code we must follow. We can only have so many people inside of MP at one time. I understand your reasoning for such things, but it just doesn't work. Say we're at our attendance cap. You and your friend decide to go outside to smoke a cig or something. You get your hand stamped.

That means that those next two people in line can't get in like they normally would, because we have to 'hold' your two spots inside...while you're outside you decide not to go back for a while, so you bounce. Now those people standing in line can't get in until I would say a reasonable time has passed.

How is this fair to anyone?

I understand we don't like waiting in long lines. But we need to have fairness.

i for as long as i have been putting this party together people have asked me to get a DJ that spins anime/japanese related music, but honestly i have yet to find a DJ that fits that bill. every DJ that say they do or they will ends up not doin that and just starts spinning what they normally spin.

Hmmm... sounds similar to what was going on at anime-expo. That's the whole reason I started playing conventions.

I use M-Audio's "TORQ" with Control Vinyls, and a midi controller for effects, and looping.

To everyone asking in regards to the Japanese guys that were brought out last year, I just got off the phone with Allen and I can safely say we have an amazing plan in the pipeline right now. Expect a final announcement in the near future, but if all goes as we currently have planned no one will be disappointed.

It may be a little too late to suggest someone for this year, but even so I'd like to toss this idea out and if nothing else for the NEXT one ^_^ I saw someone mention Sharpnel Sound and I agree whole heartily since they DO have anime mixes... "Little G@D Channel" is a remix of the opening to "Lucky Star" and can be heard on their myspace page Here

I'd also suggest PowerGlove but they are Metal and as such NOT ideal for the SoapBubble.

I'm hoping everything works out with the fire marshall this year though, I've only been to ACEN twice, this year marks my third year coming back, and I'd love to see what all the fuss is about

If attendees behaved themselves and if we avoid having...4...5 responses by emergency services by the end of Thursday alone, hopefully we won't draw the Marshall's attention this year. :[

this is true if we could avoid the amount of emergency response calls i think we'd be alright and we'd stay under the radar of the fire marshall .

Well, the marshall was actually there for the hotel, and not the convention itself. However I have a feeling he came due to the amount of emergency responses to the convention itself. Another thing that doesn't help is that when one department responds, the other two do as well.

Let's try to behave ourselves this year folks and play it safe. Rambunctious behavior may be funny to you, but it really ends up hurting you in the end.

as far as I'd heard mydjsobad is sponsoring them as a separate gig, but concrete info on that would be slightly handy to know

She does have a point, if someone needs to run and grab a quick drink or really has to pee. Why should that count against someone? What about that bathroom pass idea? Give whoever is working the door a pass and let them hand it out, for no more then five minutes. Then if the bathroom goer doesn't come back, the next person can go in and the guy who left is S.O.L. and has to wait in line again.

That's a great idea! I also support the idea of a bathroom pass. However, I suggest making it 10 minutes, considering that the bathrooms are a good distance away from the ballroom, and by the time you get past everyone, at least 2 of those 5 minutes will have probably elapsed.

i'm goin to be working out a solution to the problem of "in and outs" so this way people that have to run to the bathroom or just go out and get some air can come right back in.

i personally don't feel that people who step out for such reasons should be made to stand in line again, but hopefully we won't have a line issue this year.

Please don't misunderstand; I have no say in how Allen runs his event. I'm trying to simply argue a fairness point for the average attendee who may not visit the forum; ie first-time con goers, who would see these people leave and maybe walk around and then go right back in while they have to stand in line still to go in for the first time. This would certainly put things off to a bad start I personally think. I will go for any plan Allen decides upon.

There is water inside main programming as well. We had two if not more if I remember correctly last year. One on each side of the main doors (the tech node being in the center) atleast. For the soap bubble I believe we had a lot more brought in.

As large of a cap that we have, I've thought that our 'outs' have balanced our 'ins' in one way or another, or atleast to the point of people not having to wait too terribly long. As said before the line problem last year was due to a drastic reduction in that cap, and a extremely high initial turnout (in my last walk of the line of the night I counted 4000+ people.)

On the same note, I only see the event from the inside; my final walk was really the last time I left the room until about 4:30am for example :( time sure flew by.

Underground Groove wasn't very exciting for me last year, waay too small of a room with a lot of people.

The Soap Bubble, well, that's a different story. My friends and I waited until 12-ish to get in, and stayed there until 5. Now that was fun! There are some pretty cool people at ACen that we were talking too : D.

I'm glad, you're glad. I guess Friday night wasn't as great because some of the people I was with weren't happy because they had to drive quite a way and were really tired. So I guess crabby breeds more crabby...

I hope it all works out and is really awesome too. Geez, 95 days is too far away now!
