i know its a little early to be talkin about soapbubble and underground groove, but i like to get things started early and i like the buzz to be out there for a good long time. so lets start things off by asking what you liked and disliked about this year.

also to any and all DJ's and wannabe DJ's i would like to see more of you at next years DJ comp. this years DJ comp was good but it definitely could've been better i know there are always tons of you out there that say "i can spin better then the DJ's that they have at acen" its about time you prove it. so when i call for demo's i wanna be flooded with CD's.


so lets open up the discussion and tell me what you really think.

I would also like to ask when would be the best time to go to the soap bubble. My sister and I left the panel- Your Favorite Anime Sucks, ready to have a blast at the Soap Bubble(would've been our first year attending the SB) and there was still a line =/

At what time do you suggest going? AKA, when is it line free?

It'll depend on whether or not the fire marshall will be staying on site like they did for this year. Which is why there was a constant line all night, because they couldn't have more than so many people or the con gets shut down :'(. In 06, I don't really remember there being a line for it and you could come and go as you pleased.

I'm ready for the Soapbubble! Though honestly, I would prefer that the second DJ (the one that occurs after Chris Patton's group) do a mix of different styles of electronic music rather than just one subgenre to keep things interesting.

well the second group of DJ's were the guys from japan and i actually didn't book those guys and i really didn't know what kinda of music they were gonna spin. as a rule of thumb for me i like to keep the styles of music not to far apart from each other cuz i find that to much difference in the music style can kill a party. the music most commonly played at the soapbubble is house, hardhouse, drum and bass, jungle, trance, techno, and electro.

i for as long as i have been putting this party together people have asked me to get a DJ that spins anime/japanese related music, but honestly i have yet to find a DJ that fits that bill. every DJ that say they do or they will ends up not doin that and just starts spinning what they normally spin.

i guess it would be a good time to post the DJ list as it stands at the moment

DJ Khek (Hip Hop, House, Drum and Bass)
DJ Mike Jandes (Trance, HardHouse, Electro)
DJ Mark Jandes (Trance, HardHouse, Electro)
DJ Maru ( Drum and Bass, Jungle, Japanese Hip Hop)
DJ Beryl Turner ( House and Old School)
DJ Nameloc ( Drum and Bass, Jungle)

These will be your DJ's for 2008 SoapBubble and UnderGround Groove, but the listing is always subject to change as always. i'm currently looking for 1 big name DJ to sign on for next year so lets see what i can come up with.

I would love to see dj TAKA as the guest DJ for 2008. He does mostly trance music, and his name is familiar to any Beatmania IIDX, Pop'n Music, or Dance Dance Revolution players.

Hopefully he's within our budget or i think what you guys should do is demand him for the musical guest for next year instead of just another JPOP band like we've done every year for the last few years. i think that would be a nice change of pace considering every other con does the exact samething we should do something different and i think getting DJ Taka or say TaQ would be nice.

yes hopefully for next year we can get the fire marshall thing straightened out before hand so this way we can avoid this massive line that happened this year. thats one thing i want to avoid at all cost. i personally hate waiting in line at clubs/bars or going into any party. i never want the SoapBubble to have a line ever. i want everyone to be able to come and go into the party as they please. it just makes for a better vibe that way.

i will do my best next year to make sure this doesnt happen again. i would say that SoapBubble for this year was probably the best party we've had since the the first offical SoapBubble back in 2001. i would like to continue that trend of bringing in top DJ's and have the best party that any convention has ever seen.

Are there any bigger rooms (possibly in the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center) that the Soap Bubble can be held? Even when the room was filled to capacity, the lines were still very long!

that wouldn't be an option because we wouldn't be able to stay in the convention center that long like we can stay at the hotel.

whats up all i've just returned from an awesome time in las vegas and lots of clubbing out there. i really can't wait to get the party started at acen next year at UnderGround Groove on Friday and SoapBubble on Saturday. i think next years parties are gonna be something special and probably the best parties to date.

ACen's SoapBubble SERIOUSLY needs more Jpop. Even if it is the really mainstream ones that everyone knows about like the above ones.
