I recall the first time I heard "Don't Worry, Be Happy." The year was approximately 1989?, one of the coolest new shows was the Muppet Hour (don't recall exact title). I believe the first half hour was, you know, puppets and stuff. The second half hour was like a story told by a lion or something.
Anyway, Bobby McFerrin was a guest on the show or something, and he did a little dance thing with these puppets in some back alley and was singing "Don't Worry, Be Happy." :sweatdrop
 :sweatdrop

Anway, does anybody remember that muppets hour show? It was on Sunday nights. ABC? NBC? I don't recall. So yeah, muppets hour show thingy.

oh yeah!

Last time I heard "Don't Worry, Be Happy" was when they aired the episode of Futurama where Leela got stung by an outerspace baby queen...

 Who is Charlie Rock? And how dare he defile a classic like Horse With No Name!

(runs to grab soap box, hops on top of it)
I'm tired of these people who can't write their own songs, so they cover someone who can write. Perhaps I'm old, perhaps I'm conventional, perhaps I think credit should be given where credit is due. Well, credit is due to songwriters.

Much respect to Dewey Bunnell of the band America who wrote the classic song "A Horse With No Name."

Charlie Rock is a breakbeat DJ, and the remix is a breakbeat mix. He's not a producer, singer, or a songwriter...he's a DJ. Mebbe you should listen to it before you try to put it down. As a 19 yr. old, I'm a fan of the oldies, too, but, you know what, it's a dope remix. It may be a classic song, but that's only proven by the fact that people all over the world are looking for this song to listen to and enjoy dancing to it. You couldn't do that to the original, could you? Most people won't realize it, but they'll appreciate the fact that it's a cover for an older song after they hear the remix. It happens all the time. So, guess what? You guyz need to stop getting so heated. It's a song. BTW, you can all disagree as much as you want but closemindedness is another name for ignorance. I'll send you the song over AIM if you want. It's great.

I'll tell ya what BBoy, in my mind, it's these djs who are ignorant. I don't even see why there are djs. These djs think they are "creating something new." They aren't.

I respect the songwriter. America wrote that song, not Charlie. When you have something that good, why mess with it? I'm sick of all these djs "spinnin' something new," cause they aren't. In my mind, they are just ruining classics.

Whatever happened to the songwriter? If you can't write music, then get off the air. These djs are just riding the coat tails of the original musicians. In any case, I don't think America wanted people dancing to their music. They were a folk/rock band. If you want to dance to music, find some original dance composition.

I hate hearing all these remixes of "Magic Carpet Ride", "Kashmir", etc. Can't anyone write music anymore? Is this generation that retarded? Lacking so much talent? That lazy?

If these guys want to make a name for themselves, they should learn to play a guitar or a piano or something and write something new. Don't be a dumb@$$ and rip off someone else's song. Don't cash in on someone else's success. Make your own success.
