Even that weird anime about like....space....that they liscensed was good. The voices were like....the SAME as the sub, practically, only the bad voices were better.

Unfortunately I haven't been watching dubs at all lately, I've never had cable so the only dubs I see are DVDs from the library.

And they're dubbing the ToP OVA in non-crappy voices~!

(One DVD I might actually buy~ Well, two, if they split it into 2 DVDs~)

I have always liked Pioneer/Geneon they have a nack for licensing a majority of good queality anime.

I REALLY don't like ADV surprisngly. They just get a vast amount of cliche anime, and when they get hold of something good they always use the same crew of voice actors that over squeakify the femal characters. And sadly enough a lot fo the aniem theya lso grab is under my Cliche anime grouping.

But yeah, dubbing companies geared towards making anime for younger audiences suck hardcore. Other than that I'm pretty indifferent towards other licensing companies.

I am a huge fan of dubs. I was extremely mad at Bandai Entertainment for not including a dub track on their original Gundam trilogy DVDs. Especially since they did do a dub. Oh well. I can stand subs, but i prefer the dub. When i watch something on fansub and like it, i get the DVDs so i can see the dub and how they handled it.

Well, Pokemon (and then Card Captor Sakura) are the anime series that got me into anime. However, I don't like how 4Kids butchers the anime series. Therefore, I don't mind that 4Kids is losing money.

Ugh yeah the dubs in general are going downhill in my opinion. Yugioh was perhaps the second worse I have seen dubbed. When I downloaded some of the japanese episodes and saw how much they had changed, it quite frankly pissed me off. There was WAY too much they changed, I mean they changed the look of the CARDS!

I have to go with excel on how badly done Sailor Moon was. It didn't matter which company had the rights to it, it was all REALLY bad compared to the japanese version. I am grateful they never touched Sailor Stars, had they...ugh who knows what would have been done to it. After I found out how bad the dub was that is when I swore off dubs. CardCaptor Sakura...ugh another poorly done dub won't even get started on that. Really wish Escaflowne would have been on a little more, as I never got the DVDs for that anime.

I have never seen FMA in english and probably never will. I saw it in japanese first and nothing is going to change my opinion on how good it is or how well the dub was done. Sorry too much is taken out for the sake of the american audience which is sad in a lot of ways.

If 4Kids goes under, good riddens to a bad dub company!

I saw the original first american english ep of Sailor Moon. It was really bad. Did they tack on a moral to that episode? It was weird. I want to see the japanese version to see how bad this version was.

In other words the English dub for FMA is really good. I think that the quality of dubs is getting way better, at least for the stuff aimed at an older auidence. Maybe they know older people wont watch it if the voices were horrid. So companies like 4Kids can get some random person to voice Monkey D Luffy and Yugi.

I also got into anime through pokemon and yugioh (sad, I know), so i don't complain about them. Without them, I probably wouldn't like anime. Some animes though, I wonder why they had to mess them up. Shaman King was a decent manga but I disliked the anime. Maybe it was just the dubbing, but who knows.

My opinion is split on ADV, I really liked their dubs of Peacemaker, and Full Metal Panic, but I really don't like how they did the Macross redub, I felt that they had Vic Mignona use his Ed voice just to bring over fans of FMA, if they do a redub of Macross DYRL, they'd better not pull the same thing, esspecially when the characters in DYRL are older than their series counterparts.

I hate any company that brings over anime with the word "kids" in it, it means nothing but bad news.

I've actually gotten into conversations about the Saturday morning anime with some grade schoolers... they knew damn well that Sanji was holding that lollipop in an odd fashion! They even asked me what was up with the frame skipping and the insta-clothing swaps.

One of my biggest gripes though is their stereotyping in the voice acting. I thought kids are supposed to not base their opinions on someone by how they look ;p Nico Robin and her southaan bealle accent just...completely did that in for me. I wish 4Kids the best, but for the love of........ change your damn marketing and editing standards!!

What I think also needs to be done quit trying to take animes meant for teenagers and adults in japan and making them kid friendly. It just looks stupid when they do that. Also cutting out episodes is another thing they tend to do which is why I started buying the uncut DVDs with the japanese tracks. And hey I love Vic, wonderful guy, got to talk to him a little during Acen 2005, he does a wonderful job.

i hate 4kids, but when i was like 6 i didnt know anything about anime so it didnt matter.

but now, they have shown complete bastardization to anime...

on the subject of favorite lisencing co. possibly viz, but what they did to naruto makes it pure hell to watch every time. but i will admit they dubed fma pretty well.
