Just wanted to let those Import Car fans and Drift Fans know that we will be putting together a really nice car show in the dealers room this year.

i'm looking to put 10-15 cars (depending on space) in the dealers room. if anyone here is interested and they think there car is show worthy contact me.

also along with the car show i've got some guys coming in to do RC car drift demo's.

As much as this very idea makes my head hurt, I can think of one thing to fix it.

Borrow a 2006 Ford Mustang Shelby Cobra GT-500 (blue if you can find one) from a dealership, and have the staffers responsible for this event cosplay Rally and Mae (Gunsmith Cats).

How to do it:
Were I in your shoes, I'd put together a brief set of a few slides from Gunsmith Cats featuring the Shelby Cobra and go speak to the dealership manager. Explain that you're assembling a car show at Anime Central (BRING NOTES ON OUR ATTENDANCE over the last five years), that there are usually more then ten thouand people in attendance most of whom are college students who might be looking for their first new car in the next few years. Show them photographs of the Cobra from Gunsmith Cats and say you'd like to feature a Shelby Cobra in your event.

I'd give you about a 30% chance of success with any particular dealership (some of them will be idiots). However, if you ask around enough you WILL find some dealer who will be interested. They very likely, of course, will want to send a rep or two because, well, that's how dealers are. If the car is being exposed then they will want their business card exposed as well so they're creating potential customers.

Or if worse comes to worse, at ACEN, you can just go up to girls who are hot and ask them to stand by your car.

my question too you is why does this make you head hurt?

is it because its "JAPANESE" cars and not Domestic cars. its not that i dislike domestic cars its just that this is a "JAPANESE" animation convention and i think having the best of Japanese car world fits better in a convention like this.

so hopefully this explains things.

your idea is good but the liablity behind doing something like that would be too high.

Gunsmith Cats is the only the second anime in the history of anime to my knowledge to actually license a make and model of car to use in their series, the other being Misato Katsuragi's Renault Alpine A310. Nether of which are asian cars.

To not try to feature the one of those two cars is...

Well, it seriously makes me question the 'anime' link to a car show.

Don't get me wrong. I own a 2006 Honda Civic. But I don't consider it to be an anime related car because it was never featured in an anime.

And don't even start down the liability road because that's obfuscating. You'd be equally liable for the consequences of this event regardless of who owns the car. It just doesn't fit in with your 'view'.

Hey Allen, I just realize something....

After the confusion that's been going on with the Shellby *sp* Corba thing....

It'll be nice to know on what kind of cars you want to be in the show...

Like anything that looks tight, appear in an anime, drift cars... etc....

i'd take a toyota cressida if it was done up right. i think i'd pass on a cooper and beetle. cuz honestly i don't think anyone around here has one exactly like any of those anime series.

The Civic was in Initial D, driven by Shingo, and the Civic Type R was also in Initial D, driven by the Todou School of Driving. The model of course wasn't the 06' model.

I think this is a great idea. I might be able to get someone to bring in a AE86 or a Silvia.

I have a '95 Honda Civic that was - at one point - really tricked out. Through a good deal of neglect(yeah, I know, but i live 1000' from my work - why drive?) and some run-ins in the parking lot, it needs quite a bit of work. Any ideas on a good place to get some body/appearance work done in the MSN/MKE/RFD/ORD area? Don't know if it would be show-worthy, but if I can get it cleaned up I would show you

OMG I love import cars!! This topic alone makes me excited for ACEN '07!! The best import car you should get is the new 07 Infiniti Skyline, it's the American release of a Nissan Skyline. I haven't heard anything on it recently, I don't even think it's out, lol. Well that or you should just have like a Skyline GT-R, lol xD
I riced out a 2002 Mitsubishi Galant, I would probably let you use it, if you actually thought it was worth putting in, lol.

That's pretty much what it looks like, that was back in August though, and that image is Photoshopped, because that was before I debadged it (but it is now) and the emblem is still silver, but when I get it back (today or tomorrow) I'm painting it. But yeah, it's not really that special, lol.

actually that car is coming out in 2008 and its gonna be a NISSAN not an infiniti.
