Folks, I think it's about time we brought this under-rated genre to such a great con!

I am a huge fan of Power Metal, and though very little is known about it, it is very popular in the good ol' country of Japan! So, for those of you Otakus roaming about, loving Japan left and right, check this out!

For those of you who don't have a freaking clue what I'm talking about, here's a brief summary:

Power metal is mainly based on epic battles, fantasy, sci-fi, etc. Sometimes, it could branch off to another lyrical theme, but that is the basics of what it is. It has a lot of double-based drums and speed riffs to go with it. And the singer usually has a falsetto (High-pithced) voice. Bands to influence them are those like Queen, Iron Maiden, and Dio.

In short: Power metal sounds like Hair Metal....but GOOD ^_^!

Here are some bands that you may have heard of that fall into this category:
Manowar
Dragonforce
Nightwish (Like Evanescence, but better! Prove me wrong)
Sonata Arctica
Galneryus (From Japan, people)
Rhapsody [of Fire]

I advise you to not let this form of metal go to waste; you have no idea what you're missing.

For those of you who are fans of power metal, post on here to promote Power Metal to come to ACen. We brought Malice Mizer, now let's turn it up a notch.

I've heard of some power metal bands from Japan like Galneryus. I"m all for bringing that to ACEN. Power Metal one of my favorite genres of Metal. Dragon Force, Nightwish, I love it all. Lift your devil horns in the air!!!!

Rest assured: We should leave no Power Metal behind!

The more bands we mention, the better chance we have on bringing it to ACen.

Keep spreading the word!

Power Metal MUST come to the con!

I am a power metal fan. However, unless the band is Japanese or plays at least one anime song, I don't see how that would fit into ACEN. Yes, I know that there are plenty of non-anime songs played at the Soap Bubble. However, I think that ACEN having a live band that isn't Japanese or doesn't play at least one anime song will not sit well in my stomach.

Rhapsody and Nightwish = not power metal
try epic metal, man

Only real metal band I know of from Japan is Gunship666 but it's more death metal than power metal. I would love to see them.

DnD? Ya, get Hammerfall and bring Amon Amarth so they can sing about vikings and Norse Mythology. I saw Amon Amarth in Milwaukee and they were AMAZING.

I think Nightwish and Rhapsody would be more symphonic power metal. How about Freedom Call?
