Happens to be that the same has happened for the last 2 years (the 06 ones are posted... no one has seen the 07 ones yet, 05 was on archive.org, I have my packet from the 2004 ones) aka the last 2 days are identical.

Now that means you can do Thursday and still come to con Thursday night -> you will miss, Latin: Lit or Virgil, and Spanish Lit.

or for those of you who are going to go to school Friday and come -> you will miss... nothing! since they are noon finals.

I'm happy with the dates this year but unfortunatly as I noticed along with some other people,AP tests! Oh well,I guess I'll study my butt off for them before and then yay I have finals. But at least for me,I thought I would have a band concert. Heck I would have skipped it if my band teacher didn't threaten to drop my GPA down a few points. XD

First of all, I just want to say that I adore ACen. I live for that one weekend each year. And I recognize and honestly appreciate all the hard work that so many people put in year round to make this convention kick face. So nothing personal with this next part (the last thing I'd want to do is make ACen people upset with me...) - But I can't help but feel that the scheduled dates are shooting ACen in the foot. Given, this years dates are already better than last years (since 2006 was so god forsakenly early), but I think that attendance might be boosted if ACen was just a smidgen later - Even just one week later than the current 2007 dates. If I remember correctly the number that was tossed out at closing ceremonies last year, the overall attendance at ACen 2006 was less than at ACen 2005. I don't know... I guess I'm just bummed out because I know so many people that won't be able to make it this year/ haven't been able to make it previous years (mainly because of school stuffs). Meh. I know everything is set in stone for 2007, and I'm sure you've heard this gripe a million and a half times, but maybe you could just keep it in the back of your head for future reference. Wokay, I'm done now.

Hopefully I'll be able to attend this (my 5th) ACen. Weehoo.

Ok so you got a few things wrong and you might want to get the right facts.

Attendance for 2005 was 9,500+ for paid fans, including staff and guests and dealers and other people it was over 10,000.

Attendance for 2006 was 11,000+ for paid fans, with all the other people like staff and such it was more like 11,500+ people there.

As for the dates, Acen has happend around finles year after year, in fact a lot of our staff is in college and have finals at the same times as many of our fans do, so we know what you are going though. We have also been on the smae weekend as Mother's Day before. It won't kill us it will only make us stronger. There was talk of mveing the con to early June, but that would put us up aginst AKon, and a Wizard World con. For now we have decided to stay in early May. That might change one day and we might move to later in May, but for now we really like haveing the con in early May.

I hope that this will answer some of your questions. Though you are prably going "if you have staff in school why dont you move the con to later in the month?" The only problam with that is working on it with all the venues that we use like the hotel and the convention center. We have to work with and sometimes around their events to set the dates for Acen. So sometimes even the weekend we get is not our perfect choice. But comprimise works well.

As for reg we are working on the website, and hopeful it will be up by the end of October.

Now hopefully this year I'll get together some sort of cosplay...2006 was the first con ever I've been to and not been in costume. It was really weird. I'm so used to cosplaying.

And people griping about the dates...there's no such thing as a date that will be perfect for everyone. No matter when it is in May, it will conflict with stuff like college finals, AP exams, proms, etc. That's simply a fact of life.

I'd cheer about not having finals, etc, but actually, I don't know when mine are. If it's like last year I'm assuming I'm in the clear either way.

YAY!!!! *dances* Well,... I don't think there will be a problem with it. XP Last year, my exams were after I came back, and I just skipped a day of classes.... oh well. *snickers* I remember back in 05 it was really awesome!!! ^^ XP I got out of all my final exams in High School. XP Excemption rocks for seniors! ^^ Anyway, I don't think there should be a problem this year either for me.... Most of my instructors are very flexible, they would let me reschedual, and I don't even know my schedual for next semester... I'll plan carefully though for it. ^^

Erm... not to sound annoying or like a broken record or anything, but around when do the rates normally come out for the hotel? I think last year I made reservations in November, and I was fine.

Though I had a great time at ACen that year, the people were very rude to the cosplayers and I feel that they were lucky that many people ignored the insults that were thrown at them... the prom people were definitely outnumbered. :cool:

BUT, I'm happy that I don't have any schooling(yet) that will interfere with ACen this year and my mom will be going up into the Chicago area for Mother's Day and she already said she didn't mind that my sister and I were going to Anime Central instead of celebrating mother's day.
