I still say the females won that battle.
You know you're old (and a HUGE geek) when almost all your (often times drunken) get togethers with friends turn into a huge convo about old school cartoons and each try to outdo each other with the oldest cartoon they can think of. I think Jay's still the victor in that area

Prince Planet.
Not only the oldest cartoon I ever remember seeing, but it was a Japanese anime!
It was when I was a very small kid. I can't even remember any actual stories, but I remember the name and I remember it was in black and white, it was in reruns on VHF TV, and it involved a small boy who had a medallion with a "P" on it that would turn him into an Astro Boy-style superhero.
Nobody else I know even remembers that show, but I swear to God I watched it when I was a toddler.

When dial-up internet cost too much for your family.
You remember when cartoons were taken as cartoons and not scrutinized.
When you remember the OJ Simpson trial as something that interfered with your cartoons like Attack of the Killer Tomatoes or Batman (when Batman was allowed to bleed).
Nobody was suing Warner Brothers for being deragative towards drag queens.
Just something to look at if curious. http://www.myspace.com/treadsilently

99? I remember when it was 39 cents. A nickel would get you a pack of Wrigley's, and a dime would get you a comic book, newspaper, candy bar, student fare on the bus (They were electric back then,) a phone call or one play on a juke box or pinball machine (3 for a quarter on those last two).
You could buy a pack of cigarettes "for my mom" without a note and for less than half a buck. You could buy a brand new VW Beetle for two grand, or get lunch at Mickey D's and get change back from your dollar.
If you were shopping for a new TV, not only did you have to decide if you wanted to pay extra for a color set, you also had the option of getting one with UHF (the channels only went up tp 13 without it.)
Do I win?
