This is aCen. We've put up with crap from the game room for years. If they're smart enough to run Slash (CONSOLE!) then I'm not going to give them crap about running something like DoA.

We have sign-up sheets available in the game room, but there's no fee or anything like that. Some tournaments close sign-ups after a certain number [ie, SSBM] so if you want to get into the bigger tournaments, make sure you sign up earlier.

There will be trophies at least, and maybe stuff thats donated by redoctane and other such merchandisers.

And its all gonna be mixed into one tourney i believe for a game, no matter the skill level.

And for any tournament i run, there will be no cap on the amount of people i allow in. If anything, ill have a waiting list if i DO have a cap for people who are actually present and want to join (because at least 30% of the people who sign up never show)

I'm not sure if it's been listed elsewhere, but looking over the first post, will there even be a bring your own console section? I know last year, there seemed to be, but I don't know about this year. And it looks like from the LAN comment in the other thread, that ACen doesn't want people to bring computers...that's rather a shame, as I was hoping to bring along Eternal Fighter Zero, Meltyblood Final, and perhaps a MUGEN project a friend of mine has been cooking up.
Any light shed on the issue would be greatly appreciated.

The bring your own console section WILL be up and running again this year, just hammering out the details before it becomes "Official".

As far as bringing in your own computer to the game room, I unfortunately can't allow that. The only computer that will be present in the room is the Video Gaming Staff PC for keeping track of tournaments and equipment. Sorry :-(

And PPP has been at ACen every year since...2002 I believe. 2002-2003 it was v1.1, 2004-2005 it was 2nd Mix. This year, dunno who can provide a machine though.

Just for clarification. Will they be playing Halo 1 or Halo 2 at the tournament?

It doesnt matter for me either way but I'd prefur playing in a Halo tournament w/out the dullness of everyone running around using the same overpowered weapon.

And as a secondary reminder - If I would bring my own XBox Controller S would they allow me to use it in the tournament? (I also ask this because I have a friend who prefurs playing with the 'Duke' Xbox controller) I dont want to risk getting stuck with a half broken controller when I need it the most.

1- Has anyone asked about having a Smash Brothers N64 Tournament? I'd personally prefur playing the better Smash Brothers game. Melee lacks too many good things the N64 version had... like gravity.

2- For the Soul Calibur 3 tournament, if we could bring our own PS2 memory cards would we be allowed to play as our own Custom Characters? I have a custom character I dont necessarily 'pwn' other people with, its just -really- fun playing as him .

Yes, you should be able to use your own controllers, but that is NOT a final answer, I will have to talk with my staffer who is running the Halo tourney (which BTW it is Halo 2)

As for SSB N64, no, we are not running one, nor will I allow one to be run just because of the sheer magnitude of SSBM we can have two tounaments like that being run.

And as for SC3, i am pretty sure that answer is gonna be a no. Not a final answer since I am not making the rules, but pretty sure.

I'll be running the Halo tournaments...and while I toyed with the idea of doing both a Halo:CE and Halo 2 tournament along with the 2-on-2 teams tourney...I couldn't do it. I already have to schedule at least six hours to take care of the free-for-all and teams ones in Halo 2, to add a Halo 1 tourney might be too much. It seems that the overall bias is towards 2, even though I personally prefer 1 anyway.

Like I said last year to everyone, if you really want a Halo 1 tourney, I'll be more than happy to throw one together, but it will most likely have to be after hours Friday night/Saturday morning, or early afternoon Sunday and there will be no prize/trophy.

As for controllers, bringing your own isn't a problem if you want to do that. Just make sure I [or anyone helping me with the tourney] knows that you are, so that we can replace yours when you're through with your round. But I will have an abundance of controllers, both large AND small. It's not easy to get used to the S if you're used to the Duke, and there are plenty of people that still want the big one. (:

No, you can use your memory card for a color for a character, But you can't use a custom character. (so no talim sized characters using Astaroths weapon type thing). You can however, use bonus characters, such as "Hualin" the stick user or "Aurelia" or whoever is in that little box with the exclamation mark.

TVs that aren't being used for our consoles [so tournaments or games we've set up] will be free to use by anyone. That number isn't set yet. I'm sure it's entirely possible that when that information becomes available to us, we can pass it on.

Last year if I remember correctly, we had about four or five TVs for free use. It should be around that same number, but don't hold me to that.
