Description: The Richton Park Library hosts Manga + Anime Crew on the 3rd Saturday of every month from noon to 1:30 in the afternoon. We have art supplies available for drawing and a big screen projector for watching Anime. Sometimes there will be a special event such as “Super Trivia Showdown” or a longer meeting so we can watch a movie-length series. We’re always open to new suggestions. Location: This club is operated out of my home, and members’ homes in the Chicago, IL area.
Our events are hosted mainly in members’ private homes, with the occasional meet up in a public venue. The idea is to try to keep the meet-ups where they are accessible by public transit for everyone’s benefit. Some of our social meet ups have included movies, restaurants, and various stores! Right now, the meetings are run out of my home on the Northwest side of Chicago. Occasionally we have meetings in other locations, as members offer their homes for hosting meetings.
When do you meet? Our regular anime meetings are generally on the weekends, most of the time on Saturdays from 2-7pm. We generally have a poll monthly to decide what dates work best for members.

Description: The Anime Manga Club meets to discuss anime and manga as well as video-games (most of the club time we either have people put in suggestions for new manga and anime they would like to see at the library to be able to check out) we always have food at every one of our meetings. Usually its Ramen, cookies, and pocky, for Christmas we had Japanese Christmas cake and other sweets. For conventions or anime nights the club provides rice balls and other common Japanese treats. All food and drinks are free =]

Our club has about 30 members who attend regularly, (about 100 people showed up to Animinicon though, which is always held in July) Members also frequently cosplay during meets and more often for Anime Nights or Animinicon. Anime Nights usually feature an array of game tournaments, card game tournaments, and “Anime Underground” a compilation of funny anime clips, abridged series clips, new Japanese technology, new video game trailers, anime openings, and popular Japanese songs/videos.

When you enter the door to come in for an Anime Night or Animinicon, usually an array of Japanese music/anime openings will be playing. We also hosted a mini rave during an Anime Night which included free glow sticks and our own DJ. We also have Japanese Food Tasting, Manga Discussions, Video-gaming tournaments, Drawing Contests, name that anime opening, Card Game tournaments, Cosplay Contests.

Description: Technically only open to students, though we generally let non-students attend because we have about 30-40 regulars, so no ones going to notice. Please contact us beforehand though, we can’t have too many non-students showing up, and know that we will kick you out for misbehaving. We’ve had campus security escort students out before. Also note, no hentai or even most ecchi will be allowed. We watch a full season of a different anime, preferably one that isn’t something everyone’s seen like Evangelion or Cowboy Bebop, each semester. This semester we are watching Darker Than Black. Since that obviously can’t play out 4 hours a week, we also have one member each week choose an anime they like and show a few episodes and each month pick a member to come up with a theme and give a full meeting presentation on anime that follows that theme/genre/etc (former examples include: “Giant Robots 101: Real vs. Super Robots”, “The Supernatural in Anime”, “CLAMP”). Besides watching anime, we normally fool around a bit too, doing stuff like playing Mafia/Werewolf, watching YouTube/NicoNico videos, etc. Outside of meetings we have larger events, and this year they include holiday parties, a maid/host cafe, a game of Humans vs. Zombies and a Satoshi Kon Week that will be open to the campus and the public.

When do you meet? We meet every Friday and every other Thursday in the student union during the academic year. We have a set schedule of anime we watch each semester (two episodes of each per night), which can be found on our website.

Description: We are a collegiate organization of anime fans who gather weekly to enjoy anime. We hold weekly pocky/ramune raffles to raise money for our semi-annual “ramen parties,” where we provide high-quality ramen, vegetables, drinks, and snacks to our attendees. Our membership dues are $10 for one year, which allows members to have some exclusive privileges, but the entire community is welcome to join us for our weekly screenings. UT student status not required.

Description: VOA is the longest running anime club in the Milwaukee area having begun in 1999. Our general meetings offer a wide variety of activities including, of course, watching anime on a big projector screen, also playing video games and table top games, and socializing with lots of other fans. The club also offers japanese snacks and drinks to purchase.

Description: JAA, the initial sponsor of Anime Milwaukee, runs anime screenings, video game playing sessions and over all chit-chat everything Japanese. We host multiple anime night marathon events, open to the public, where you can join your fellow anime fans and crash over night at the Union watching your favorite anime while hanging out with your friends! We also encourage JAA trips to Anime Conventions in the area.

Location: Appleton, WI
When do you meet? We meet Friday once every three weeks at the Appleton Public Library for 2 1/2 hours for Manga Madness, a time where we each bring manga to talk about, discuss, and read. Currently we are planning to move the anime viewing to a private residence so that we have a bit more leeway in anime shown. (We meet in a public library, me thinks High School of the Dead might be frowned upon.)

Description: Currently we just watch anime and read manga. Every now and again we do activities like cosplay bowling, discuss anime conventions, hold holiday parties, etc. Suggestions are always welcome too! And it’s open to all as long as you are 18+ or have parental permission, we have older members and I don’t want parents off put by their child meeting someone who is 27, as some of our members are.
